So frustrating. The foul caused the possession change that led to the goal. This game needed a BS missed call and goal for RBL not PSG.
VAR looked at it for a while, I don't get it. Seemed like clear contact to me. PSG not winning the sportsmanship award.
Not surprised he has come on for Kampfl who had one of his worst games, imo. He wasnt ready for this big a game.
Neymar for some reason holding down Adams with his leg while the ball goes out of bounds? Weird moment.
I assume it's what he's supposed to be doing, but Adams isn't exactly putting himself in dangerous positions when RBL have the ball. They're acting like a team who don't plan to score once, much less three times. At least he's fouling Neymar.
It's also just a talent problem. For Leipzig to win, they would've had to hit on all cylinders at 1000% and have PSG not show up. That didn't happen and this is the result. Just looking at the lineups alone, and it's just on a complete different tier. You can pull off upsets, but nearly all upsets are built around the little guy playing the game of their lives, the big guy not bringing their A game, and some element of brilliance in the little guys game plan working perfectly, which is why it's rare. It's just much easier for teams loaded w/superior players to simply outplay the other team. Like us losing in the quarters 18 years ago, Red Bull making it this far w/that roster and lineup is a spectacular accomplishment as they are nowhere near a top 8-12 team in club soccer let alone top 4 but they did it, this time anyway. To make it the rest of the way they'll have to spend a lot more.
Hastenberg gets ball, Neymar trips over his back leg as Halstenberg goes away, Hastenberg yellow. Too many ref mistakes in this one and all one way.
He's not that kind of player though. He should've been starting. He's not a supersub you throw on to get a late goal, that was completely against the run of play of his career. I do get your point though. He's a First XI guy for them (or should be) and he played THE key role last week, and he picks up splinters while the rest of the team gets torn to pieces when his talent/work rate/speed could've really helped. Bad decision by the man in charge. PSG should win this, easily, regardless, but having Adams on the bench to start was idiotic if he was match fit.
I think there is a bit of an overreaction to Tyler not starting, Leipzig dominated the game against Atletico, no need to change your midfield. Tyler has been just fine since returning from injury, but it isn't like he has outplayed Kampl, Laimer, or Sabitzer. It was the right decision, it just didn't work out for RBL. At the end of the day, it was going to take a perfect game to beat PSG, it didn't happen and a couple lucky breaks have gone the way of PSG and some poor referring decisions.
I know I'm not breaking new ground here, but Neymar is such an embarrassing diver I just can't root for him. Just ridiculous. Has an injury every three minutes, frequently on contact he initiated.
Nice 40yd+ pass from Adams to Poulsen almost goes for goal. Unfortunately it was Sabitzer not Adams who tracks back to save a 4th goal.
