As great as Zidane's accomplishments were, he probably needs to coach more seasons to enter the conversation. What has driven people to Pep vs others, is his style of play. People have generally historically valued, whether it's fair or not, dominating play and pushing opponents back more than counter attacking styles . Generally speaking, it's viewed as the more difficult plan to implement. It has obviously also been Pep's weakness in his failures. He should have won 2 or 3 CLs with Man City by now. Losses to Madrid and Liverpool were OK because those were great teams in their own. But his losses to Spurs, Monaco, Lyon and Chelsea in the final stick out like a sore thumb.
As a top level coach nowadays, no he doesn't. As an all time great, he has coached only 5 seasons and only madrid. So yeah he needs to coach many more seasons and maybe more teams. Pep: The media hype he got from the love Barcelona got early 2010s and the pl media machine also played a huge role.
It's also important to highlight that ZZ coached BBC Madrid, but also Hazard/Young Vini Madrid, winning a league with a completely different style of football compared to his first stint. Zizou is underrated.
For all the talk about how good or bad Halaand really is. I find it mind boggling that in a season where he managed to miss this many chances, he was still able to score nearly 40 goals in all competitions and finish as EPL top scorer. Haaland took 59 Shoots on target and missed 34 big chances. Salah took 56 Shoot on target and missed 17 big chances. Phoden took 48 Shoot on target and missed 7 big chances. Haaland just gets so many big chances at each game that he can miss 2 time more than dude after him and still finish on top.

That's the entirety of Grealish's game: Hold, hold, hold, BACKPASS. Hold, hold, hold, SQUARE PASS. He never has a trick or technique to get past a defender. He seldom hits a cross to one of the best #9s in the game. He can't create the play, nor combine with his team mates to advance the play. He's a passenger on the Citeh bus, and Doku would be a better player than Grealish on 11 days out of 10.
Girona is a positive for spanish football. Going to be a bit ogf a hot take, but what they do isn't that different than what Depor, Betis and others did in the past.
Extremely hypocritical from me, but I also see Girona as an important asset to Spanish football as of now.
Manchester United sound out Roberto De Zerbi about becoming new manager Italian’s success at Brighton has impressed Sir Jim Ratcliffe Erik ten Hag likely to be sacked despite FA Cup success De Zerbi’s attractive possession-based style of play and the 44‑year‑old Italian’s feat of qualifying Brighton for European football last year for the first time in the club’s history have impressed Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who controls football operations at United having bought a 27.7% stake in the club last year. Tuchel was previously favourite to replace Ten Hag but Ratcliffe is an admirer of all the candidates and is keeping an open mind. The Ineos billionaire is also this week leading a season review after which Ten Hag will learn for sure if he is to be removed from his post. The 54‑year‑old’s position is in jeopardy after a dismal campaign in which United finished eighth, their lowest position of the Premier League era. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...t-roberto-de-zerbi-about-becoming-new-manager
Except, as per normal, no one said he isn't "great", which is indeed hilarious as i can see, however i'm not even sure how any of that is determined, for any coach, i'm sure many people have many differing criteria, and no one size fits all
Again, no one anywhere thinks and spews that Carlo invented football and is the best thing that football has ever seen coaching a team, or is the god of coaching, most seem to think he lacks tactical prowess and is just a good man manager, so, start there and work your way backwards
Pep has coached Barca, City and Bayern. Barca when they had revenue pretty close to RM and Utd. Bayern by far the richest team in Germany and had just won treble under Heynckes. City has been amongst the biggest spenders in Europe officially and God knows how much unofficially. Klopp won 2 Bundesliga titles with Dortmund, won all the titles with Liverpool who are clearly behind City, Utd and Chelsea in terms of budget. If he had coached Bayern and City instead of Dortmund and Liverpool, his trophy winning record would be way bigger.

I remember The Biscuitman talking about when LC bottled massive lead in the league table. He blew a 17 point lead, bottled every “big team” we had to play in the championship. Lost to Millwall and Plymouth when we needed points. Only has one tactic and will never change from that. You’re welcome to him. https://t.co/opEmtclQiy— Casual Fox (@CasuaIFox) May 28, 2024 Also Jamie Vardy had to hold a meeting after the Plymouth game to sort it out cuz Enzo had no idea— LC LCF LCFC OK (@LCFC_1884_OK) May 28, 2024
Do you think Carlos legacy is tainted,? he coached Juve and Milan who were found guilty and punished for match fixing. Match fixing in my books is the worst offence in competitive sport
Pep and Messi separated in 2012, Since then Messi made a sum total of 1 CL final, Pep made 2 Maybe they just needed each other
That what can he do with a smaller team question is just a cop out. Ranieri did the greatest underdog story yet when asked to mention top coaches, no one remembers him Is Edin Terzic 90mins from being a Goat manager? Some won' even know who he is or what he looks like
Good shout No one even mentions Ranieri in this conversation, Not DiMatteo, nor Avram Grant who took Chelsea to their first CL final and a Terry slip from lifting the trophy
Yes of course. Today Zidane can get any job he wants because his considered a top 4 coach in the world along with Pep, Carlo, and Klopp ... as he should. All time, he is going to have to coach more. And I don't care if it's a team with less resources or not. Top coaches manage top teams with top talent.
