Unfortunately yes. He’s cooked. There’s some days he looks ok but then there’s days I have to look away from the screen. He gets exposed and it’s sad to see. He was one of the best in the world for us. Peaked super early.
Physical decline was obvious after 2018. Injury prone too. I am glad we moved on from Varane and Ramos when we did. Alaba is starting to become a worry in his 30s though.
Onana was bought for 50M!!! While Samba playing for lowly Lens has had a game Iker Casillas would be proud of.
Mathys Tel scored the winner again, playing 13 minutes. The G/A per minute is absolutely crazy this season. He defines super-sub, sneakily a great buy from Bayern.
I'd offload Alaba tbh. He's a LB who refuses to do so, a good CB but is too weak in the air not to mention too injury prone.
I wish the invited mls teams to the champions league so they too could join in on the fun of beating SHITpl teams
Any interesting CB prospects out there? Someone we could realistically buy next season? I can't recall anyone. Alaba is OK, but far from irreplaceable.
I’m a big fan of his. He’s got the right attitude too. Jamal Musiala is on some hot form these last few weeks. He runs the show, scores and assists. If Jude wasn’t at Madrid he would be the best “English” player out there currently. Teams who are suppose to be better than us also lose games. Arsenal. Man city lost in their league. Bayern nearly threw it away today and their GK had to make a finger tip save at the buzzer to come away with a 1-2. We shouldn’t judge our lads too harshly if we at the same time we marvel at these teams and their amazing management and squad building. Well i guess we are also the luckiest team in the world so there’s that.
Despite all the discussion about our defense we have the best defensive record in the league right now, and one of the best in the CL so far, we need to get a bit tighter for sure but sometimes we just don’t appreciate what we have, still, no matter how hard you strive for it there’s no perfection to be had, that’s reality
Absolutely. There’s no perfect team out there right now. In history there have been few squads who got close to it and our club is on that list multiple times. We are not a poorly run club or a badly managed team. Our club, players, coach make mistakes sometimes but so do the players and coaches of these other teams some folks are so quick to revere and use their name to beat our club over the head with. Weird type of fandom.
Musiala is Bayern’s Bellingham. He has been bailing out Tuchel, I see zero improvement or progress from Bayern since the coaching change.
I’ve seen a lot of Bayern this season. They actually started the season looking great but have kinda gone down a level recently. They have such a good 11 and a decent bench too. They should be owning their league and dominating their group. They looked shaky and today Muller had to do what Muller does again to rescue them. Let’s see where they are after January. They are too good to look this shaky.
Alaba has had a rough start to the season, but he’s still an elite distributor from the back. His absence is why Carlo is having to find a place to start Kroos every game and having to play Cama on the left to be able to cover for him. Militao and Courtois complement him to cover for his defensive farts and weakness in the air, but he’s still a starting quality CB for this club.
Other than Bruno everything Manchester United have signed since Ferguson left has been shocking, and you can include the finish of the Ferguson era in that. Varane and Casemiro were on a very steep decline when they got them. Genius business, great for the players to pocket that kind of payday at that point.
Not even close IMO, I’m going to have my irrelevant rant here now, this player seems revered by all and sundry here, good player, about the same level as Rodry, he’s never done better and certainly not on the level that Rodrygo has for us re the league and the CL, but, Rodry is trash, I’ll never get it when it comes to our own players from some of our fans, end of irrelevant rant.
I get your point, but I think at his peak it was like having an additional CB on the field, so while he still played as if that were the case the acceleration and speed wasn't there any more. I think at the time that he left he had become showing limitations he didn't use to have.
Napoli is a good team and I'm very happy for the win but going down relatively early and then the silly penalty was frustrating. OTOH we seem to very capable of finding another gear at any time but we really are reliably leaky at the back
It's the Champions League, we've looked silly vs Wolfsburg with our best guys on deck. One game at a time.
