Was wondering about some basic questions concerning Premier Acadamy. With their training program for kids..... what ages are they getting in at and how often are they getting instruction for the different age groups.

Am asking because over here there are folks who think allowing an 11 year old practice more than 2 hours is on the verge of child abuse. Am just trying to get a clue as to what actually goes on in the making of our worlds finest footballers.

Thanks a lot for any replys. Appreciate any answers or links of where to look or where else to ask.

    Regards,

Most clubs academies and centre of excellences begin bringing players in as early as under 7's. They usually have a team in every age group up to U16, that plays games weekly. Most clubs will only have the boys train twice a week and play a game on sunday. While they are at this young age they are still allowed to play for there school and/or county. Training will usually not last longer than an hour and a half for the young players. Once the players turn 16, the club decides whether or not to offer them a full-time 2 year scholarship deal. They attend college usually 1.5 days a week and go train the rest of the week, with a game on saturday. At this time the boys may train as much as the club feels necessary. At the end of there two years, the club then makes the decision whether or not to offer the player a professional contract or to release them.

Thanks a lot for getting back to me. Our son dreams of nothing but emigrating and playing the beautiful game in England. Of course we want the best chance for his goals.

Thats the same weekly schedule his academy has him on right now. I'd have thought from how great a soccer players England creates that training would be more frequent and longer.

Our kid's (America's soccer program's) problem is in our semi-rural setting and regimentation of time, it's only with orchestration that a fun game of pick up soccer can take place, outside of lesson time. Frequent pick up games ain't happening. That and there's no credentials for coaching with many organizations.

Jeremy is still a good ways away from this, but after players are 16 about how much time each week do premiere clubs have them training?

    Thanks a lot.
