Potter out at Oklahoma https://soonersports.com/news/2019/11/1/ou-announces-change-in-soccer-program.aspx
Can we remove someone? I think UGA is now safe considering #6 seed in SEC and beating Florida. Question is two year or three year extension.
I just had a thought about this, because I also thought it was strange they did not wait a week. The signing date is coming November 13, 2019. Is it possible they wanted to give verbally committed players time to re-evaluate their decision in light of the coaching change? Just a thought, and considerate of them ... assuming they are honoring the offers otherwise.
I would think that Creighton could make a change after this season. Didn’t make postseason again. Overall I thought the Big East was down this year and Creighton still couldn’t make the tournament. That seat has to be on fire surely.
Yes 60k for SUU, and other big sky schools is right on par. Cedar City is a tough place for anyone to live long term. Its isolated with nothing much around, have to drive over an hour to civilization. Cold winters and wind all the time coming off the slopes. I heard the last coach kept his home in the Northwest and wife stayed there because he didn't want to live there long term. He would visit her and spent a few months a year in NW just to get out. Well hey, he got his wish of not having to stay more than 3 or so years.
I agree with you, this program has not gotten better and should be hot. Problem is the coach was a former mens player and in athletic HOF. Without Freshman Heinrich they would have lost even more games. I'd belive that they have gotten worse since Ross took over. Don't think they have ever made Conference tourney. Regularly play Summit league teams early and have mixed results, have lost in some instances. Their win's have been by a single goal and that conference is terrible. Wins per season: 2013 under Erickson (Big East schedule) = 9 2014 under Erickson = 10 2015 Paule's 1st season = 10 2016 = 9 2017 = 4 2018 = 6 2019 = 8 I'd also like to talk about the University of Nebraska. They will never fire John Walker, but the program isn't very good. They've only had 2 good seasons since joining the BIG10 - 2013 and 2016. Since he lost the pipeline to Canada's best players this program had taken a huge step back. Average finish besides the two outlier seasons is around 9 in conference.
Thought I'd keep the catch-all going, as I do it on the men's side too. Vacant Louisiana Monroe Oklahoma Iowa State Southern Utah
Thanks for throwing that out there. A lot of assumptions but definitely something to think about. If someone has more info I hope they post.
Young team (only four seniors and two juniors) I like the location and think the program has potential to be OK in the Big Sky Conference. If anything, I think their big disadvantage is probably not having a football team that generates more revenue compared to other Big Sky schools
Anyone know if Ga Southern removed interim tag? No longer lists it... he finished 8th in league and made conf tourney. 6-10-1.
You’d figure OU would get a sitting HC ...money is no real object there. wonder if Potter pops up somewhere. Wouldn’t be a horrible get for ISU. Had success at WSU which is similarly funded relative to the rest of the pac 12 as ISU is to the big 12. But, could understand how one would say if Potter couldn’t get it done with all the resources of OU, why can he in Ames.
