Just when it couldn't get any worse for AS Roma, a spiritually wounded Milan are next on the fixture. This could be very ugly, I don't know why, but AS Roma should feel like a wounded seal being circled by a Great White Shark! 2-0 to Milan is my thoughts.
Just a heads up, Yahoo has a delayed video of this game on its soccerpass website. I believe they release the game 24 hrs later. http://sports.yahoo.com/s/soccerpass Ciao DPW
Hey Cat, I love the enthusiasm, but can you drop the cheap salesman talk? Gordon Gecko is rolling over in his cinematic grave right now.
I don't know what to think about this match. Roma have been playing with greater confidence and the defense is coming into its own. Milan seem to have championship hangover. While one could claim that their slow start in Serie A is a product of not taking lightweights seriously, Inter played well against Milan and neutralized Milan (the only quality side Milan has played so far). I think Roma can do the same if they come out believing in themselves. Roma did this in the first 10 minutes of the Juve match and Juve is a much stronger side than Milan this year (or at least Juve seem to want it more than Milan this year--perhaps Milan is focusing on the CL too much). If Roma play their best, they can beat Milan or at least gain a point. At the end of the day, the match is a bigger test for Milan than Roma. Roma will likely be battling for 3rd or 4th (Inter's inability to win matches is going to keep Roma in the hunt for 3rd) but this match will show whether or not Milan can challenge Juve.
well, firstly... I am appalled at the lack of attention this match has gotten on these boards.. are their any Roma fans here??? a fantastic point in milan... Mancini should of EASILY won the game in the second half if he wouldnt of passed it to Dida instead of simply tapping it into the right hand side of the net... alas, a great point and solid defending after taking off delvecchio (what was he doin in there anyway?) totti was completely off his game.. why wasnt mexes in from the start?? montella continues what has been a fantastic season for him and now i just wonder.. who to put upfront with him?? surely it isnt mido!!! love to see maybe an OWEN to partner montella with totti just behind them... the midfield play just HAS to get better.. dacourt surely was missing, IMO... but at the end of the day, a good result.. not great.. but good..
a good draw. roma played with heart finally. i hope that we continue to play this way. i was really pleased with the play of roma's young players. the future is bright with aquilani, di martino, cufre, mexes, and of course derossi. last season we played milan in a must win game to keep the scudetto race alive and we played a heartless game and lost 2-0. with all the drama that roma has had this season so far it is nice that they had a game like tonight.
lol, I don't think Delvecchio touched the ball once, one would not know he was playing until the subsitution. What has come over him, he has been absolutly terrible.
Roma kept it together and got a much needed point. Mexes looked strong in the second half and Montella played well (he did a great job chasing down the ball off the crossbar rather than ball watching). But I have to say, I don't know if Roma won the point or Milan blew the point. Mancini is a disaster. he and Kaka were neck and neck for foolish plays, but Mancini probably won out for the worst playher on the pitch since every cross was way off (if he actually thought to cross the ball). That misssed ball was horrific. And Pelizoli needs to watch some tapes of Oliver Kahn and Fabian Barthez: when the keeper thinks the 18 yard box should be patrolled, trouble is always on the horizon. If the keeper stays put (only coming out when the angle needs to be cut off) then accidents are less likely to happen. Kahn was a god and then about a year or so ago he thought he was Roberto Carlos and he started losing games rather than winning them. Anyway, a point is a point. Milan are looking very beatable and Inter are the one point kings. If Roma can even come close to last year's form second place might even be an option, but I'm probably getting ahead of myself given there are so many rounds left in the season.
Earning a draw at Milan, with Il Capitano not on form, is a huge step forward for our side. After the first fifteen minutes, you could see the momentum pick up to where our team played with passion tutti di secondo tempo. I applaud Sensi for supporting Del Nerri with the head cases (Panucci, C(ass)ano and now Del Vecchio). Get rid of them all. Owen for C(ass)ano would be beautiful. Mexes and Dellas are solid. We need help with our outside defenders. Cafu killed us all day. How bad has Mancini been this season? Totally unexpected, and most disappointing. I don't know what his story is, but I hope he returns to last season's form sometime soon. We need D'Ago match fit in the midfield soon. Chivu will only make us stronger on D, and if we can get a matching bookend for Montella, I really like our chances for a CL finish this year. What a wild ride we're on this year. Forza Roma!
IN YOUR OPINION.... he is total crap.... he was decent in the eredivisie with ajax.. but in the french league he sucked, and he has done fvck all in serie A~ not good enough, IMO~
I really don't know much abaout Mido except that 1- OM did not put up a fight to keep him on the last day of the transfer market 2-Roma has had 2 coaches (Prandelli won't count because he was already away from the team when Mido arrived) and neither has given much time to Mido 3-Mido has the rep of not training hard......which does not sound like a player that Del Neri goes for
Ho, hows it go? Having watched the game on a 24 hour delay, I'll admit I was pleased with the second half effort by the capital side. I was interested (perhaps dismayed is the appropriate word) with the starting of Delvecchio by the boss. Perhaps he was thinking the man had changed...apparently he hasn't and I (maybe not too surprised with the discipline this year) was disgusted with the apparent words the two had when he was taken off. I say stick a fork in him. Equally perturbed with the late starting of Mexes The defense did okay...hell they kept em to 1 goal, so thas great. But aye, many close moments...Tomasson coulda had a goal or two if he was in top form methinks. But they did the job, and the ball bounced favorably for the defense a few times...otherwise another goal coulda been had. Speaking of defense...um...Cufre...didn't seem to be as much a problem as I've seen of him earlier (limited as that was)...but aye, he seems to be less of a liability in the role of a defensive mid... Oh ya, what do you make of the early benching of SHevchenko? Quite interesting I thought...perhaps kicked the Milan side in the rear as the playing field started to balance out. Totti...eh...not the best of days. But glad to see his fate doesn't always reflect the fate of the team...as another alluded to, it is nice to see the side take a point, on the road, without the captain in good form. Um what else...oh yeah, thought it was humorous on the Montella goal...it seemed like he and De Rossi (?) had given up on the play as they both had their hands up in frustration...luckily enough Montella had the presence of mind to put the hands back down and stay in the flow of play. Again, I'm a Roma newbie, take my comments for what they are...and if ya disagree...pray do not hesitate to educate, argue, or whatever you romanista do...put me in my place But aye, enjoyable game...glad to have watched it a day late. Um, ja. I suppose that is all. But I do hope everyone is doing well and such Ciao DPW
It appears that Roma management agrees with The Fish. Mido isn't even making the trip to Reggio this weekend, further fueling the speculation that he will be gone in January. http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/nov13i.html
How many games has Mido played? I doubt he's played 180 minutes this year. I think he will be sold during the transfer period and will return to form when he gets regular playing time. I'm not a big Mido fan but Roma are repeating a Carew scenario (i.e., don't play him much and then claim he can't score goals). At some point Roma needs to ask why strikers who score for other teams can't score for Roma, or they need to stop hoping that strikers who lose their form will regain their form once Roma sign the players. Maybe they should spend some cash on a proven scorer (e.g., Morientes). Take care.
