Interesting. It has to be Kaka since he is not yet at Milanello and I'd imagine if the player was training Carlo would have already spoken to him. We now have Sheva, Vieri, and Gila as our strikers and all of them are supremely gifted in the air. So our attacking approach might be a little different than last year. We might need to get more balls out wide to swing into our strikers in the box. And if we are to play with wingers Kaka's role will have to change.

    ---------------------Dida
    Cafu--------Nesta---------Maldini---------Kaladze
    ------------Gattuso---------Pirlo
    Kaka-----------------------------------Jankulovski
    ----------------Sheva-----Gila

Of course this lineup can be morphed into a 3-4-1-2 witn Cafu and Jankulovski as wingbacks and Kaka pushing into the hole behind Sheva/Gila. Ancelotti has alot of options to play with this year.

And to think people here thought the Vieri FREE transfer would mean we wouldn't have money for Gila  ....

Glad that Galiani got the deal done, and that we didn't have to break the bank for a talented Italian striker with vast potential...,

As for the "new" formation, I have advocated in the past for a Brasil 2002 like WC formation for our beloved Rossoneri:

    ---------------Dida------------
    --------------Lucio------------
    ------Edmilison-----Roque Junior
    Cafu------------------R. Carlos-
    -------G. Silva--Kleberson------
    -------------------------------
    -----------Ronaldinho----------
    -----Ronaldo------Rivaldo-------

Transposed to our team, with substitutes in ( ):

    ------------Dida----------------
    -----------Nesta---------------
    ------Stam------Maldini--------
    Cafu-----------------Jankulovski
    ------Gattuso--Pirlo------------
    -------------------------------
    -----------Kaka---------------
    -----Sheva-----Gilardino-------
    =========================
    -----(Pippo)----(Vieri)----------
    ---------(Rui Costa)------------
    -------------------------------
    -------(Seedorf)--(Ambro)------
    (Serginho)--------------(Vogel)-
    -----(Kaladze)----(Simic)-------
    -------(Costacurta)------------
    ---(Eleftheropoulos/Fiori)---------

Man....that's one hell of a 23 man squad!!....but I do hope that Carlo does rotate better this year, what with the heavy club schedule and many of our players national team duty for World Cup qualifiers and friendlies. I still wouldn't mind making more young defender purchases, but if we there are no more buys I am pretty satisfied for this summer's transfer period. :)

    As always.....FORZA MILAN!!!

I guess Reality TV show "Campioni" winner Fabio Boriello impressed Ancelotti in training. From the AC Milan website:

    7/20/2005
MILAN - Fabio Borriello has signed a contract with Milan. The defenderstarted the pre-season camp with the Rossoneri following to the victory of Italian TV reality ’Campioni’.

He's a 19-year old defender. Here's his profile from the TV show website:

Juve has a player from the same show training with them. He scored a goal in a friendly the other day, albeit from a pk (which he did earn at least).

Anyone hear anything about Milan opening negotiations with Anderlecht over Vincent Kompany? Apparently, they want to add more youth to their defense and targeted Kompany. An Anderlecht supporter told me this. Anyone heard anything on it?

Milan and Inter have been linked with Kompany. I don't think either will get him this summer, he might be next year's trasnfer target.

Well, I know that Kompany is a long-term target for a lot of major clubs. And it looked like he would stay with Anderlecht after signing a contract extension this summer. But this guy made it sound as if Milan were trying to get him now. Just curious if anyone else had heard about it.

Why aren't we being linked with Ballack?

He would be a superb addition, could possibly take Seedorf's place, and he may well be going cheap.

I agree Ballack would be the perfect replacement for Seedorf but he will cost alot of money which Milan aren't willing to spend. It would be sweet to get Ballack next year for free though.

If we were going to replace Seedorf we would of bought the guy already.

Looks like it'll be another joyous season with Mr. "I'm too good to run".

Ballack was never a realistic option for us anyway. We should be happy with getting Gila and Jankulovski this summer. Also, can't Jankulovski be played in Seedorf's position?

I was under the impression that Jankulovski would replace Seedorf in the starting eleven. I can't take another year of Seedorf.

    Cassano in, Sheva out!

Triabalfootball is reporting that Chelsea have offered 55 million pounds to Milan for Sheva and offered to double Sheva's wages... This may have been deemed stupid a few weeks ago, but with transfer ban over Roma lifted, Milan may want to land Cassano now instead of risking losing him next year to a club that can offer higher wages... So sell Sheva now (he has probably two good years left in him), use a fraction of the money you get to buy Cassano (arguably the second best young striker in Italy after Gilardino), and you have the best striking force in the world...

However, you can't trust this source!

    Re: Cassano in, Sheva out!

Because, although the source is not trusted, the rumor has some logic... Sheva is 29 years old and at his prime, but has probably only 2 good years left in him. It seems more than logical to cash in on him, and purchase one of the best strikers in Italy with a fraction of the money that Chelsea pays for Sheva.
