I about passed out when I logged on to FB this morning and saw the list released. Super pumped for Our Captain!
This is so great for her. I saw something a couple of weeks ago that she had some kind of teaser on some social media platform about watch this space..... never in my wildest dreams did I think she was referencing get a call-up. She is a poster child for Keeping the Faith and it couldn't happen for a more deserving athlete.
I saw the same teaser and thought this might be what she was referring to. From the little I've seen, it sounds like she "officially" asked to be considered, which I assume had something to do with her past concussion issues which now definitely seem to be "past."
I was at the NCAA College Cup when I saw this on my smart phone. I literally jumped and yelled out...YES! I am so happy for this GREAT player and wonderful girl. As a Red Stars fan, I say...Lori Chalupny IS the Chicago Red Stars and has been for the past 3 years! Lori is a great Captain, a great leader on and off the field, who plays 110% every game. And most of all, yes, Rory is correct, Lori is one of the top 5 players in the NWSL and this call-up is well deserved. I hope she plays well in this call-up and impresses the USWNT coaches to make the 2015 WWC roster.
Well I think this solves the Boxx issue because there is a good chance she will be dropped from allocation next year. If Chalupny and/or Johnston is allocated that will make it more fair.
