It looks like he is one of DC United's 'secret' signings as nothing has been made public yet...but he has a profile set up on DC United's site. http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/2015-2016-offseason-thread-the-future-starts-now.2026347/page-40 What can anyone tell us about him? My take from limited video is he can finish when in the box like a forward, is a zurdo, but can use his right decently and has good heading ability. What's his injury history? Any links to better videos out there that shows his ability on the ball? All I see is his goals and 1 clip of his quick play ability. Looks to be a smart player, plays 'box to box' and covers a lot of ground.
Nope, he is right footed, but can use his left. He is a versatile midfielder that helps primarily in the distribution of the ball, he lacks speed but compensates with a great sense of space, he is always in the right place to help either in defence or to start the attack. He is very dangerous in aerial attacks, most of his goals are scored in corner or free kicks. I feel that he is still relatively young and given that his main assets are not mainly physical, he can give at least 3 or 4 years at a good level, if he can keep himself injury free. In the last 3 years he's spent a lot of time injured.
As far as I can remember, he's never had a knee injury, they are mostly muscular. There's also a rumor that he hasn't been playing for Toulouse due to a problem with the owners of the team, apparently they weren't paying to the players and as the team captain he complained, so he was sent to the reserves, so I don't know if all the time that he's been injured is true.
Well it looks like Abel is going to MLS to play with DC United he already has a player page. http://www.mlssoccer.com/players/abel-aguilar
to add to Baal's points - Abel has also always been a pivotal player for the Colombian NT. Going back to the U20 2003 WC 'playing up' in age. In fact, many of us feel that his starting spot in the current Colombian NT roster has been one of the most difficult to fill while he's been injured. He has great patience, great vision and is a solid leader on the field. Not sure what's needed at DCUnited but if he's back in form he'll be a great addition to your team.
Tahnks! I think some were premature to say he's tied to DC United, but I am HOPING this is a wild guess...that's correct! I'd love to have him on our squad. Very talented.
We suck because the coach won't call new players not because of Abel. Regardless he has always been one of my favorite players, a little slow but also scores when he is needed. He knocked out Mexico with a fluke goal in Copa Oro 2005 that I will always love him for. Mexicans were so sad and telemundo couldn't believe it. Concacaf stopped inviting South American teams after that haha
No Cali this season Abel has signed with Os Belenenses in Portugal OFICIAL: Belenenses contrata capitão da seleção colombianahttps://t.co/ECVPA1QbOD— maisfutebol (@maisfutebol) February 1, 2016
Was AA sidelined in 2015 due to injury or contract problems? or both? i hope he is able to get back on the field this year. his position and style of play can allow him to go well into his mid 30s....
Belenenses have a good team they are struggling this season but have been impressive lately they won today 2-1 against Maritimo away. They were also in Europe in a group with Fiorentina, Basel and Lech Poznan just barely getting eliminated even beating Basel in Switzerland Very good club for Aguiar
A mi lo que me importa es que juegue, el sabe la falta que le hace a Colombia, asi que tomo la mejor decisión posible, es una transferencia o una cesión? Prestado. Bueno, mientras se pueda largar de Toulouse lo demas no importa.
In all fairness the Primeira Liga and Ligue 1 are neck to neck in standings Against Ligue 1 opponents Primeira liga sides have 44 more wins
