I do appreciate Gomes came here and really cares and is not mailing it in for a check. Low bar but he is clearly that.

 

I also noticed that he seems genuinely engaged with his teammates, which is not a given where Euro superstars wander over for some paychecks. Oftentimes they barely seem to notice that they even have teammates.

 

Nice win, you can only play what is in front of you but we created chances, scored some of them and generally looked up for it. Second half difference was more pace in possession. I would still like to see Rossi more involved but Ali having an almost sixth sense telepathy with Arfsten is encouraging. Also nice to see our wide men combining on the quick fire third. Handbags at the end showing team cohesion. Aside from a fairly poor goal to concede it was a good showing. Green shoots?

It was mentioned on the broadcast that Ali has pulled Arfsten aside in practice to work on this area.

 

Yes I heard that. Very interesting and a good insight into Ali. Knowing that and watching the replay back of the first goal, Ali didn't really do too much, held his run but got ahead of his defender when it mattered, but it was all about the ball, but what technique on the finish. Normally you are taught to head the ball back in the direction it came (ie to the keepers left), but no way the keeper could stop where it ended up.

 

I also would like to see Rossi more involved, in scoring and creating assists. His main role, and impact right now is more indirect. He is creating distractions with the ball, and runs off the ball, that free up Ali, which is really helpful and is certainly paying off.

Actually, haven't Sportsbooks taken a hit due to people just betting on the apps on their phones? Like the Hall of Fame Village ripoff / fiasco in Canton. One of the things they were touting a few years ago was a new Sportsbook. Then it turned out that people were just betting on their phones (#whoknew?), and the Sportsbook at the HOFV was scrapped.
