The schedule for the first Asian Champions League tournament was announced today. The event will take place in Tokyo, at National Stadium, and will Include J.League champions Jubilo Iwata and League Cup champions Kashima Antlers, as well as Jia-A champion Dalian and Songnam from Korea. Apparently Japan was allowed to have two entrants because they are paying to host the first event (and also because Mazda is the sponsor) but assuming that the event continues in future years, the holders will be the fourth team and the winners of K-League, J.League and C-League will be the other three. Schedule: Feb 16 -- 13:00 Jubilo vs Songnam ----------- 17:00 Antlers vs Dalian Feb 19 -- 16:00 Dalian vs Songnam ----------- 19:00 Jubilo vs Antlers Feb 22 -- 13:30 Songnam vs Antlers ----------- 16:30 Dalian vs Jubilo The winner is determined by the top team of the round robin matches. There is no playoff for the final match.
It is nice that this tournamet makes up the Dynasty Cup that was abolished in '98, even though the Dynasty Cup was for national teams. But I don't like the way the media is treating this tournament as the tournament to determine the strongest league in the 3 countries. This tournament takes place before the season starts. I believe non of the 4 clubs in this tournament are in good shape. The real place to determine the true champions is the Asian Champions League. I know this is more or less experimental and political to bolster the status of east asian football in AFC though.
I think it will be a good publicity event. It happens right at the start of the season, and no other football is being played, so it will get lots of attention. I agree, though. It wont really prove anything about which team is strongest. On the other hand, I think the same is true about the Asian club championships. Teams dont bring their top players, and treat it as a second priority after their domestic league.Asia still has a long way to go before it becomes like the European champions league.
I think that A3 Mazda Championsip is unnecessary. Since there is already Asia Champions League(ACL), it overlaps. ChungMongJoon(Korean soccer association) demanded this championship strongly. Why? It is for activating declined K-league. Now, K-league has very few spectators. Therefore, K-league club want to play a match against the J-League club. And they want Japanese money.(A sponsor is Mazda Motor) The championship prize of K-league is only 100 million won(10 million yen). The championship prize of A3 Mazda Championsip is 48 million yen. 2nd team is 24 million yen. 3rd team is 18 million yen. Even 4th team is 12 million yen.
Well, if all 3 FAs didn't agree on it, it wouldn't have been held. I don't think this is necessarily in conflict or an alternative to the official AFC Champ. League, it's more like a regional tourney, like the Tiger Cup (unless with clubs instead of NTs). But yeah, the thing is chances are one (or two) of these teams will probably be in an AFC Champ. League final (the following year).
ChungMongJoon's purpose is money. Therefore, although there is a merit in Korea, Japan does not have a merit.
I don't get it. If J-League felt so strongly against it and thought it was a loser, they'd tell K-League and Jia-A they'd pass. Further, Mazda wouldn't be sponsoring it if they didn't think they'd make some money on it either directly (or through promoting the Mazda name).
Dont pay attention. This guy is just a Japanese clone of Looloo and Casual. Anything involving Koreans or Chinese must be a conspiracy. It cant possibly be any good (even if two Japanese teams are participating), because it is supported by the KFA. No point in arguing with logic like that.
Re: Re: Re: A3 Mazda Champions League: Feb 16-22 You do not understand my opinion. Yes. ChungMongJoon is rich. He does not want money. I want to say. K-league club want money. understand?
Re: Re: Re: Re: A3 Mazda Champions League: Feb 16-22 Songnam spent quite a lot to improve their squad so it's only natural that they want more money. If there's going to be some tournement where they will get some much needed cash, of course they're going to be enthusiastic about it. This is the same for just about every single club there is on this planet. However, don't make it sound as if the K-League is bullying J-League in order steal money off them. Understand?
sorry, but now I have to start talking about Jubilo again! I don't know how well we will do without Takahara though...........
Re: Re: Re: Re: A3 Mazda Champions League: Feb 16-22 J.League clubs also want the prize money as well as they want to prepare for the upcoming season through this pre-season tournament. The 3 teams saw the merits to their own interests and have agreed to participate in the tournament. If they want the money, that's fine. If they want to build up and check out their state of condition, that's their choice. And what is your big problem?
Re: Re: Re: Re: A3 Mazda Champions League: Feb 16-22 and J-League or C-League clubs don't want any money? When Mazda decided to sponsor it, there's a reason. I guess when Hyundai got to sponsor the WC2002, the rest of the world just wanted the money off of Hyundai.
Re: Re: A3 Mazda Champions League: Feb 16-22 for some reason, the way he writes seem very similar to that of the emails which some Japanese fans sent to Feyenoord in order to stop Namil Kim going to Feyenoord. ---------- (an email claiming that N.Kim does not have much marketing values and thus Feyenoord should not take Kim. I found it at SoccerWorld, and it was originally found at EnjoyJapan) --------- Nam-il Kim lost his marketing value in the Korea. The reasons ¨ç¡¡first reason In South Korea, after 2002 world cup, many Korean people had interested in football. Many Koreans visit their K-league matches. The number of audience was get at 30,000 per 1 match. But the football bubble was over now. In november, K-league audience was lower less than 5000. Their love for football was generated in nationalism, not in pure motivation for football. So, the Korea football market was in the cold. Please you must research the case. ¨èsecond Some media mentioned that Nam-il Kim has 400,000 fan. But, the story was doubt. Because, the number of fan was made only internet £¼signature>. Everyone can register the name, only to one-click on the 'register form' They can register the name much number of players. And maybe, they don't have the ambitious for buying goods or visiting your stadium. --------
Website! Hey guys, long time... The organizers now have a website, in all three languages. Too bad the venue (Tokyo Nat'l) is not a soccer-only stadium.
Korea Football, you're probably correct; LiveinYokohama would have done something like that since he has a vendetta against Koreans. This guy is trying to argue about nothing, what club in the world wouldn't want any money? Thats just not an issue to bring about to criticize teams for attending a tournament.
So here goes... This is it, guys... A3CC is starting today! My predictions for day 1: Seongnam 2 - 1 Iwata Kashima 1 - 0 Dailian
LOL. Those were just predictions. The games haven't even started yet! As of now it is 11:48 am Feb. 16 Japan time. Should be some close games. It's unclear how good Iwata are w/o Takahara.
