Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, F.Y.R Macedonia ......all five ex-Yugo republics have amazing soccer talents, all five countries are doing well when playing international games. I'm from Bosnia and I truly think that it will be a very hard job for the coach to pick his team if all these five republics were as one. ex-Yugoslavia will be called Brzailians from Europe and it will be if not the best, one of the best teams in Europe and the World.
bla bla bla bla.....of course u aint gonna admit that yogoslavia would be number 1 if was united...but ur lucky we are crazy enought to dislike each other....Long Live Balkan!!!
Despite the talent from various different republics over approximately 60 years, how many times has Yugoslavia been to a World Cup final? I believe I just answered your question. The talent was there. You can't force people to like each other. I am proud that there is a Croatian team, as I am sure the other former republics are proud of their ethnicity and their teams. I don't wish to see another Yugoslavia nor do I think about it. P.S. Croatia wins the World Cup in 2006
if yugoslavia didnt break up, they would have won euro 1996, because denmark was the winners that year, they were changed for yugoslavia.. also wc1998 croatia in the semis lost 2-1, with 1 goal witch shouldent have been allowed as the croatian player was bleeding on the side lines when thuram scored. yugoslavia would have on wc 1998 also, maybe even in 02. who knows they would have been one for the worlds strongest football nations, if not the strongest, because yu can see all of the yugoslav nations beating big teams, so one country would be amazing.
Denmark was invited and won it in 92, not 96. That was Germany. Edit: woah...you just bumped a thread that is 6 years old!!
How about the Russian Empire (Russia + Ukraine + Belarus + Poland + Finland)? Litmanen, Hyypyya, Shevchenko, Tymoschuk, Arshavin, Zhirkov, Hleb, Milevskiy, Aliyev, Akinfeev. And just think back to the 80s! Lyato, Boniek, Mlynarchik, Blokhin, Zavarov, Belanov, Dassayev, Rats, Cherenkov, Protasov
what about a united germanian team, england, holland, germany + belgium, austria, switzerland, luxemburg. wow they would win the world cup man
With Miske, Dzeko, Ibisevic, Srna, Modric, Vidic, Pandev and a bunch of others, Yugoslavia would definitely be a top 10 team in the world.
I couldn't keep me from laughing while reading this thread. Considering how ugly things went when united Yugoslavia broke, with thousands upon thousands of deaths and plenty of bombing, it's amazing that someone is thinking 15 years later to reunite that mess only to gain a few places in the rankings History is your friend, learn it
croatia's 98 team acomplished more then any yugoslav team..yugoslav teams for all the talent they had never accomplished anything..croatia's team in 98 was very good but they did not have alen boksic who might have been the most complete striker in the world at the time..
That is indeed very possible if you knew the players of that generation. From Croatia: Davor Suker, Zvonimir Boban, Robert Prosinecki, Alen Boksic, Robert Jarni, Dario Simic, Igor Stimac, Zvonimir Soldo, Mario Stanic, Slaven Bilic. From Serbia & Montenegro (at the time): Predrag Mijatovic, Dragan Stojkovic, Sinisha Mihaljovic, Vladimir Jugovic, Slavisa Jokanovic, Zvonimir Mirkovic, Goran Djorovic, Ivica Kralj, Savo Milosevic, Dejan Savicevic. From Slovenia: Zlatko Zahovic, Milenko Acimovic. Formation? -------------------Kralj---------------------- Simic-------Stimac-----Djorovic-----Mihaljovic --------------------------------------------- Boban------Stojkovic---Prosinecki----Savicevic --------------------------------------------- ------------Suker------Mijatovic------------- There is so much attacking talent there.... that midfield in 1992-1998 would have been one of the best in the world, if not the best. Not to mention you don't have Vladimir Jugovic who was one of the best midfielders during the early 90's in the Serie A for Juventus and later for Inter. Also Alen Boksic was one of the best forwards during the 90's.. and he might not even play due to Mijatovic and Suker playing at Real Madrid... Then you have such players as Jarni, Stanic, Jokanovic, Zahovic, Milosevic, and Kovacevic who wouldn't even maybe break into the squad! And also there was a very young Dejan Stankovic coming into his own...
You guys actually talking about a team from 1 country which was made up of what was actually 6 countries that was destroyed 15 years ago? Wow. Continue.
Actually a host of journalists came together from the Ex-Yu countries and put forward a team. Therefore it's just for the sake of seeing how it would look like. Nowhere do we think we should be united. Everyone is really proud that they have their own "national" team now.
Well to be honest the way ex-Yugo clubs have done this pre-European campaign thus far, I can understand that.
Yeah, why are our national teams so good, even with so few people? Serbia has 10 million, Croatia 5 million, Bosnia 4 million. USA is 30 times that... Anyways this was the team they drew up: ----------Handanovic------------- Srna---Vidic--Simunic--Dragutinovic -------Modric----Stankovic-------- Pandev------Vucinic----------Dzeko ------------Eduardo------------- Personally I prefer this: ----------Handanovic------------- Srna---Vidic----Ivanovic----Pranjic -------Modric---Stankovic------- ------------Kacar--------------- Vucinic--------------------Dzeko ------------Eduardo------------- But there are so many possibilities..... Nikola Zigic (Valencia) Ivica Olic (Bayern Munich) Mladen Petric (Hamburg) Simon Vukcevic (Sporting Lisbon) Nikola Drincic (Amkar Prem) Ivan Fatic (Inter Milan) Zvjezdan Misimovic (Wolfsburg) Vedad Ibisevic (Hoffenheim) Sejad Salihovic (Hoffenheim) Ivan Rakitic (Schalke 04) Vedran Corluka (Tottenham Hotspurs) Ognjen Vukojevic (Dinamo Kiev) Niko Krajncar (Portsmouth) Stipe Pletikosa (Spartak Moscow) Nikola Kalinic (Blacbkurn Rovers) Mario Mandzukic (Dinamo Zagreb) Marko Krasic (CSKA Moscow) Milan Jovanovic (Standard Liege) Ivan Obradovic (FK Partizan) Nenad Milijas (Wolverhampton Wanderers) Neven Subtoic (Borussia Dortmund) Josip Simunic (Hoffenheim) Aleksandar Kolarov (S.S. Lazio) Bosko Jankovic (C.F.C. Genoa) Zdravko Kuzmanovic (Fiorentina) Miralem Sulejmani (Ajax) Danko Lazovic (PSV Eindhoven) Zoran Tosic (Manchester United) Miralem Pjanic (Olympique Lyon) Stevan Jovetic (Fiorentina) Adem Ljajic (FK Partizan/Manchester United)
You're talking about a pool of 45-50 players who all play in top 10 clubs in their respective leagues around Europe.
Hi: I remember the U20 Yugoslavia NT, WORLD CHAMPION in my country in 1987, these young guys were playing a fantastic football: Lekovic (¿serb or mont?) Stimac (cro) B.Brnovic (¿mont?) Jankovic (¿serb?) Jarni (cro) Pavlicic (cro) Mijucic (?) Prosinecki (cro) Boban (cro) Mijatovic (mont) Suker (cro) Coach: M.Jozic (cro) The yugoslavian team was the favourite of the Chilean fans (of course after our own NT, who ended 3rd of the World).
probably the most talented generation of players ever..serbia or croatia will never have a generation like that again..you did forget asanovic who didnt have a great club career but behind boban was croatia's best midfielder in the 90's..he set up so many of suker's goals..not to mention he was a hajduk legend..
