Franz Ferdinand is my favorite CD of the year so far.

RJD2's new one is on my shopping list.

I love Goldfrapp. I finally picked up "Black Cherry" and I can't stop listening to it.

A few bands I am listening to currently are:

South - With the Tides (good, dark, mellow music)

The Delays - Faded Seaside Glory (combination of the Cocteau Twins' sounding voice with music like the Stone Roses)

Keane - Hopes and Fears (Best album of the year so far. Reminds me of a combination between Coldplay and Starsailor.)

I'm really digging The Killers right now. I saw them on Jimmy Kimmel Live of all places teh other night.

For some really odd reason they remind me of Lush. I realize they sound nothing like them, but that's the association i have.

You know you can hear the entire thing on Wilcoworld.net, right?
    www.wilcoworld.net

All you need is Quicktime6, I think.
I know the link was posted before, but maybe you mean you're wary of how it sounds on a real strereo.

For some reason, they remind me of Killing Joke.

I can see where you're coming from with the Killing Joke comment, although I don't think they're as dark. For every dark song on the album, they have a more poppy song. I do love me some older Killing Joke, too. However, after seeing the Killers live on Jimmy Kimmel, the lead singer has a lot to live up to if he's trying to be Jaz Coleman. He seemed to be trying to conjurn the spirit of Ian Curtis and failed miserably.

I talked to a few folks that saw them. They said Les Claypool came out and jammed with them.

I've decided that after the last two weekends spent at music festivals that they aren't for true music lovers. People are chatting it up, it's hard to hear bands sometimes, the production level is usually much lower, etc. Nothing tops seeing a band in venue by themselves.

    WHOA!

even though i had no reason to ever expect that to happen, and even though i had no means of getting there, i am starting to regret missing out on taht festival.

...but, like you said, for the most part, festivals suck.

I so need to get that album.

Nico, do you have any idea where one can download Phish and Jay-Z doing "99 Problems"?

He also did "Big Pimpin'" with them.

This is the "official" place to download it, and it costs money of course. However, all of the money does go to charity and Phish does't make a dime off of it. This will also be a CD quality download available in FLAC or MP3. You have to download the whole show though.

    http://www.livephish.com/show.asp?show=336

you could probably find it for free bittorrent download at one of these, although it won't be as quality:

    http://www.etree.org/
    http://www.sharingthegroove.org/

I'm probably going to DL via livephish.com and if I do, I could hook you up with those two songs.

"Cool Scene" by the Dandy Warhols is probably my favorite song released since the turn of the century.
