I have no doubt it's already happened.

In LA all things are possible: I once saw a Nick "Hot Child in the City" Gilder tribute band in LA. And they rocked.

No way! I'd fly to LA to see that. Nick's "You Really Rock Me" is my favorite top down late evening zippin' down the highway song ever.

As for the Mott tribute band, my buddy is the guitarist in Ian Hunter's band, which has morphed more or less into a tribute band anyway.

Until I read the Pitchfork review of the album the other night, I thought I was the only brilliant one who noticed that Stellastarr*'s 'Pulp Song' does, in fact, sound exactly like a Pulp song.

I saw Toots back in '82 or so and it was easily one of the top 5 concerts I have ever seen, and I wasn't even 'seeing Jah' if you know what I mean.

The dude was simply incredible and totally infectious. I have one of his ablums but can't remember its name. Brilliant stuff.

Rage Against the Machine's cover album (Renegades) is arguably the best thing they ever put out.

    Band name of the week:

    Casiotone for the Painfully Alone
Next Tuesday at the cheerfully monikered Hemlock Tavern.

Unlike the other entries, I've actually heard of this band before today.

    Way.

And get this -- the lead singer/lead guitarist was the guy who played Cousin Oliver on the Brady Bunch. I kid thee not.

    He was actually quite good.
And he marshalled his troops extremely well. On your favorite song, all three guitarists would lean in during an a capella chorus break, share one mic, and point in unison to the audience ("You really rock..") and to themselves ("..ME!").

    Glam nirvana.

The first downloadable musical ringtone I ever heard was that song. The owner of the ringtone will forever be my hero.

    - The more I listen to the Cardigans' Gran Turismo, the better it gets. Almost Bell Biv DeVoe good.

    - Wilson Phillips are playing Bryant Park tomorrow morning. Did they kill the fat lady?

Franz Ferdinand makes me want to shake my ass, too. And the new McLusky disk is excellent, but not as catchy as McLusky Do Dallas. The new disk has taken a little more time to grow on me, but then again, my band is better than your band.
