If there is any producer alive right now that is better than Robert Schneider, please let me know. Because i seriously don't think that man can be topped.
12 songs is the right number for a cd. Guess I'm old school, but I don't want to listen to 70 minutes straight from the same artist at the same era in time. After 40 minutes, I want to move on.
- I like concept albums. In fact, non-concept albums are just collection of singles an artist happened to record around the same time. - Apparently, Toby Keith votes Democrat, and his spat with the Dixie Chicks was more or less an act. I'm not quite sure who the joke is on. - I might have said this before, but listening to Kanye West-produced tracks is like sex. The sound is so heavy and layered, after 4 minutes and 27 seconds, I just want to lay back, cuddle and light a cigarette.
I'd say the joke is on ClearChannel. I don't watch "American Idol" but Simon Cowell's cameo on "The Simpsons" a couple of weeks back was one of the best ever. Shows that he has an excellent sense of humor about himself.
I hadn't heard this, but I had the feeling something had to be up after he cut a country chart-topping buddy-buddy song with Willie "Vote Kucinich" Nelson.
Well, you won't see him at a WTO protest anytime soon, but from a Time magazine interview: http://216.239.53.104/search?q=cach.../Time%20Magazine%20030104.doc+&hl=ja&ie=UTF-8 I think before, he claimed to vote Republican despite growing up in a staunchly Democratic family.
I have to say, I think this cd is ordinary, at best. I've given Ryan Adams a couple of chances and he's off the list for me now. Someone else on this thread said I'm a jackass for thinking this way (don't remember who). Guess I'm a jackass, but at least I'm an informed one.
Two of the most gorgeous songs that will be released this year are Air's "Cherry Blossom Girl" and Wolfman (featuring Pete Doherty's) "For Lovers" - the most elegant British downtempo rock song to see the light of day since Oasis' "Live Forever" - or maybe Bernard Butler's "Stay", or The Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony", imo). Absolute mellow sonic bliss, they are!
Your avatar is the second best beatles album. and the 5th best ever on my list. i grew up on that album. and i'm 18. what i'm trying to say here is: good job.
What's your number 1? Rubber Soul has always held a special spot for me, but it's really hard to choose a favorite Beatles album.
My random thought on music. My father once warned that the day you know youre "old" is when you say "all this music sounds the same and has done before and better by..." I have said that alot recently.
As far as I'm concerned, it goes 1. The White Album 2. Rubber Soul 3. Abbey Road 4. Sgt. Pepper's 5. Revolver 6. Let it Be I don't really consider much before that, seeing as they truly didn't start making "albums" until Rubber Soul. The White Album is number one because just about every rock album made after that has been aiming to sound at least a little bit like it, and the standard it created in 1969 is still upheld today, which is amazing considering the advancements in recording technology since then. When you tink about it, it's even more of a testament to the goup's talents because of that. And, to tell you the truth, I never really got why Revolver makes it so high on everyone's lists. By itself, it's a fine album, and it has some great songs on it, but it has SO much less of a "feel" to it than any of their other albums. And....just in case you were asking what number 1 was on my all-time list, here it is : 10. Pixies - Surfer Rosa 9. Eels - Electro-Shock Blues 8. Andrew W.K - I Get Wet 7. Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes 6. Beck - Odelay 5. The Beatles - Rubber Soul 4. Pearl Jam - Yield 3. Apples in Stereo - Discovery of the World Inside of the Moone 2. Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea 1. The Beatles - The Beatles (The White Album) ...remember, that's just based on everyhting that I have heard. It's not meant to be THE definitive list, just MY definitive list, as it stands right now.
This picking and ranking favorites stuff is way too difficult for me. If I like it, I like it. I like it a lot, I like it a lot. It don't need no stinking number next to it.
I guess that's just your method then. There's just something comforting to me about having a list about these sort of things.
I can't really think of a genre of music I don't like. I don't think a "bad" style of music exists...you've just go to find the right stuff in the genre.
They may be the "indie" flavor of the month, but the Von Bondies' "C'mon, C'mon" is a great song. The same goes for Death Cab for Cutie and "The Sound of Settling".
Am I the only one left in the world that thinks (Dare I say it) Fleetwood Mac is aterrific band. Yeah, I could do without Christine McVie, too, but this is a band that has taken far too much abuse. Anyway, forgive the experimentation with the color and font .... just playing around with the new toys.
This almost deserves its own thread, but I saw last night that William Hung's Inspiration ep is #1 on the iTunes music store top sales list. How long do you think it will be until there are multiple copies of Inspiration in every used cd bin in the country?
Hey wow, that seems like fun. I just don't like Stevie Nicks. Never really liked Fleetwood Mac, to be honest. But the guys in the band - Lindsey, John, Mick -- bother me a lot less than Stevie. I could do that all day.
Speaking of iTunes, last night I bought from there the new Air and Zero 7 albums. Does this mean I'm officially gay?
