This is really interesting information. Thanks for posting this FearM9. I seem to recall reading an article last month posted at one of the Scandinavian websites that mentioned something about one of the Norwegian clubs being interested in Törnqvist. Since there aren't any Norwegian clubs that could match a salary offer that the WUSA could make, if Törnqvist has any interest in playing in New York next year, I would fully expect to see her in a Power uniform.
I knew there were rumors about Salisbury. She is a big central defender, that can also score. I believe that she is the All-Time leading goal scorer for the Australian Nat'l team. Does anyone know anything about Tornqvist?
Those are 2 defenders right there. But we also already have Pearce, Whalen, Fair, Boxx, Tietjen, Raveia, Whelchel, and Young. Now I know some of them will be cut or something, but whatever happened to us needing an offensive center midfielder??!?!?!?!?!!?
I agree, too many defenders. Young will probably be gone, and Whalen may miss the entire season. Anita Rapp and Justi Baumgardt-Yamada both have played well as offensive center mid, in the two post-season games. Rapp isn't that fast and is better suited in the middle, same with Justi. Maybe Coach Tom really likes them there. We will see.
Hopefuly they'll make the move. They need all the good defenders they can get. Maybe we'll finally see Pearce and Whalen play in the attack as forwards or wingers where they really belong. Those two have no business playing defense.

Also remember, that the Power will probably have three international spots open. So they can sign these two defenders and also a play-making midfielder. Sermanni seems to be a good coach and also knows international players, from his days as the Aussie Head Coach. I believe he knows what he is doing.
tthe defense was shattered last year and sermnani needed to do something...he did...good pickups if this is indeed true. still wont make the playoffs but youd probley have to quadruple your win total to do so...just reiterating how bad this team was and why being 3 games below 500 would probley be a COY feat...which i think sermanni could do

I remember Salisbury being tough and seeing the blond hair makes me think of my favorite Norweign! Of Course there is NO and Never will be a replacement for Gro...but Salisbury could pan out to be a decent sub.
