I used to be a skeptic of these types of signings for A-League clubs. However, having been in Charleston during the signing of Wynalda & Diaz Arce, don't underestimate the positive PR & $$$ these name brand players can bring to a 2nd division market. Certainly, we fans can and should critique their current playing abilities, but a famous player (even a washed up one) will still grab some headlines in the anti-soccer US media and sell a number of tickets for the club.
