Being linked today to a young midfielder from Southampton, forget his name. Whatever.

he's Adam Lallana, another young AM. yawn. As for your thread title, our main needs are DM and striker. Corluka's future for us seems to be at CB.

i'll pass on the 'hope', thank you.

having abondoned it entirely following sunderland & 'boro, i've found my life to be much more managable.

a league cup away win at newcastle? "oh, that's nice."

a scoreless home draw to wigan? "hmmm. whatever."

    all is in order.

now, should we somehow stumble to a cup quarterfinal, or something, then i'm going to get uptight all over again. a striker or a quality d-mid? ok. but i can do without the hope, thank you.

King doesn't play often enough, and Dawson isn't really all that great. Another CB, and I can rest easily.

CB: Subotic of BVB. Will be the most expensive defender in the world one day, so better to get him now.

DM: Kacar of HSB or Palombo of Samp

F: Don't even need to list one. There are so many we can choose from. But sticking with the Bundesliga since that is what I know best: Ibisevic of TSG (although they may well make UCL)

There's also this kid at Partizan named Zoran Tosic that can be had for 4 million Euros. Supposed to be best young Serb at the moment. Could be another link man rather than the expensive Russian.

I would definitely love to see Palombo, I'm a big fan.

have a feeling we'll end up with a big name striker in January. One of Arshavin (i know, i know, but should be easier as the Russian season will be over), Podolski, or Huntelaar.

Podolski has a hard time acclimatizing to Munich, which for it's popularity, is one of the lesser metro areas in Germany. For some reason he's see Koln as more comfortable, even though it is much larger metro-wise. I think he will gravitate towards a smaller club, and not Fulham...London is a no go. I think Werder would be the best place in the world for him.

We'll see, but that is my 2 cents on Podolski's future.

Is Huntelaar cup-tied? We must get another striker who actually has UEFA Cup eligibility- assuming we're still in it come January.

A big assumption at this point, but a good point nonetheless.

Is this true? I've never heard anything about Podolski having a hard time acclimating. The only thing I hear is that he is frustrated about the amount of playing time he gets.

Seems to me that Podolski should be in the first team at Munich (he's far better than Klose right now), so I never understood why he would move to a team that just got promoted (Koln). He should be playing in the CL.

I believe Podolski favourite club is Koln. That's the club he started his career and got noticed by the bigger clubs in germany.

Don't get my hopes up DaeHaMinGuk ... you know Huntelaar makes far too much sense to be a WhaCkAMOLLI pick up. Ahhhh, but we can dream ... we can definitely dream.

Heck, as long as we're dreaming, let's get a Dmid too!

If you added a left winger to that wish list as well that would be heresy! :p

On Sept 1, there were rumors we were very close to landing him except his agent was playing hardball. It was either Huntelaar or some Spanish striker whose name eludes me.

Yes, I've talked to Rafael Honigstein about it. You won't get a better source.

Thanks for that, I honestly had no idea that was a problem with Podolski as well. That kind of sucks though, that would have been great to see him at Spurs. He would have been great up front for us.

There is no way villa is going to join us. But we could try...bid a 100 million pounds bid for him and maybe a 20-30 million pounds for his wages per year...then we will have 1% chance of getting him...

I would be happy if we can get Heskey in Jan...:D
