How about the following to the rhythm and tune of Blue Moon as sung by Birmingham (?) fans: Ray's moon. The worst there's ever been. He took in on the chin. He's in the sin bin. Ray's moon..... GM
Re: Ray's Moon/ A song for Saturday? It's Manchester City's "Blue Moon," and it's sung to the tune of Elvis' "Blue Moon" (the slow one from the Sun Sessions, not the faster "Blue Moon Of Kentucky.") I like the re-write, GrillMaster, but it's kind of a slow tune for a football song. While I'm the last person in DC who wants to bring Sting lyrics to RFK, you could re-do The Police's "Walking On The Moon" as "Looking At Ray's Moon." "Giant Cheeks Are Wot You Git/ Lookin' At Ray's Moon/ Rusty Pearce Just Can't Quit/ Looking At Ray's Moon..." Then again, we could just drink beer and yell ************ at Rusty Pierce and not sing anything. Also, while they did sing "Blue Moon" at Maine Road (RIP), the more adaptable City cheer is: "We never win at home and we never win away We lost last week and we lost today We don't give a ****************** 'Cos we're all pissed up MCFC OK" But the City song I'm most partial to takes the form of those horrible 60's-era, "Creque Alley"- and "Glass Onion"-style autobiographical story/songs, with loads of details that make for really awkward rhymes ("Cass was a sophomore/ Planned to go to Swathmore"). I don't know the name of the Man City song, but the first batch of lyrics are: "In 1962 when we fell to Division Two The Stretford End cried out aloud `It's the end for you Sky Blue' Joe Mercer came We played the game We went to Rotherham And won 1-0 And we were back into Division One We've won the League, we've won the Cup We've been to Europe too And when we win the League again We'll sing this song to you City, City, City, City, City" There has to be a United song in there somewhere.
Thanks for the correction from BFC to MCFC. Trust me, the syncopation I have in mind is a very quick six beats to the measure. Songs are so tough to communicate using text. We'll just have to give them a go at the Barra tailgate. GM
well i can't help thinking that "you say want a revolution..." must have some potential for a song though those of you more creative than me would have to work it out.
Further proff that Red&Black is a genius... You want a good song stick to the Beatles for inspiration! --Rock on brothers! ps I suggest "FU CSC".... short clever and to the point.
