Also, Nonny and Buck are both fully rostered first team players with no restrictions on league appearances. Even if we activated the off-roster guys (Rajagopal, Mendoza, KK Spivey) they have a generous quota of 6 MLS league appearances each (4 for Next Pro contract guys like Tomo), so there is a lot of slack to work with - but in terms of pecking order I agree that we're more likely to see the 1st team guys first. But it could be interesting to toss Jona/Buck/Rohan/Edwyn into open competition for a rotation spot, and Nonny/Tomo as well. That would inform summer transfer business to a degree.

The Buck situation is interesting to me because that was a player Bruce went out and got. He didn't need to do it. He saw something there and enough to make a roster move.

Rumor: Quakes are signing Darius Johnson (Phoenix Rising).

Wow, that would be a smart signing. Now who would have given them that idea? Dammit, Bruce, at this point I want to get my cut!

That’s a right up our one signing. Great because Judd was about to die on the field last game and we need depth

and psychological validation levied towards Jazzy J you nailed that one

Well let's see if it comes to fruition. He's a winger, so not sure he'd spell Judd, but you can bring in Johnson and move Bouda to CF.

Oddly, he has 0g, 0a for Phoenix this year, but here are a few of his goals (from last year I guess).

#22 was the best Phoenix player in the USOC game against us, but don't we really need a center MF, not another winger?
The Quakes looked pretty rudderless last night. I don't know if that's because of Vancouver's midfield pressure or because Niko was missing. But it didn't look like Bouda, Vieira, Harkes, or Beau were capable of leading the attack. Maybe Beau could with more time

He could play on the left wing and spell Timo, and that allows us to keep Ricketts at LB. Skahan has been playing there sometimes too in Timo's absence but I think Johnson would be much better. And if we have another player on the wing, we can move Bouda to the #9 to spell Judd. Still could use another #9 though.

From what I've seen, Johnson has the ability to stand up guys and beat them, and few if any of our players can do with any consistency. Ricketts tries, and can sometimes do it, Bouda sometimes does it with brute force, Niko has tried a few times but not too successful yet, Judd is a slasher not a baller type, etc. Same with Marie and Skahan. They are not technical wizards with the ball at their feet. They're slashers. Timo maybe, if he doesn't pull a hammy in the process. :)
