One positive thing I will say about Bruce in relation to the Quakes is that after LAG beat the 2012 Quakes in the playoffs, Bruce said that the Quakes were the real champions of the league (based on regular season performance). Maybe he was drunk with benevolence after their win, but I appreciated him saying that. Coaches don't normally say things like that, and FTR he was actually correct.
Does anyone know why exactly Bruce Arena, was fired as coach and sporting director of the New England Revolution? We know he was making inappropriate and insensitive remarks but what exactly did he say?
Why just LAG...he's also coached NYRB, DC & NE. He's from NY with no connection to the west coast only that he happened to have coached LAG at one point, and who cares!?
My guess is that Fisher's interest in the quakes will be if Bruce takes over all 3 jobs: coach, GM and technical dir (or whatever Covelo’s job is). Maybe Fish will get rid of Ian Anderson too, or at least put him back in the biz side rather than the scouting/analytics side.
That would be a very bad idea. Let him focus on coaching, and give him full control of roster decisions but don't get him stuck into all of these management tasks, at 73 yo. That said, if Fish thinks he can save $ doing it, he could do it, but it would penny wise and pound foolish.
I don't think you know how this stuff works in the real world. When you get BA you don't just get BA - you get his entire coeterie of staff who would take on many of those functions. You're not hiring Bruce Arena; you're hiring the Bruce Arena Experience...
I would have been fine with Kuntz over Waibel. I was just stating my preference of Waibel over our current GM
Hmm if Fish is willing to interview Bruce, is he also interviewing Bob and Michael Bradley? I didn’t realize they were working together at Staebeck.
They got relegated from the first division last year, and then fired Bradley this year as he had them mid-table in the second division... and at this point the first division in Norway is closer in quality to USL level than MLS.
Yeah the athletic just had a long article on why Bob Bradley didn’t work out the 2nd time around. I hadn’t realized that Staebeck only had a 5k seat stadium

Tuesday November 5th huh, I assume there is nothing else of importance happening that day, speaking of "huge vote coming up"...
Il Bruce is not really "LA". He's a New Yorker, and he acts like one too. Son of Italian immigrants. I was reading his wiki page - he played both lacrosse and soccer and even before coaching pro teams, as a player he won an NCAA championship with Cornell as GK, and was on the US national lacrosse team that won a world championship! Also, he was both the soccer and lacrosse coach at U of Virginia for 7 years before he became just the soccer coach.
All you have to do is talk to him for about two minutes and you immediately understand he's from Noo Yawk...
Thanks for posting that. I got no such notice from my sales rep. The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors has not yet posted an agenda for that day, but anyone can send public comment on the issue to BoardOperations@cob.sccgov.org
Alan Gordon, Dax McCarty and Dan Gargan have a podcast “MLS Journeymen”. They think it would be great if Bruce Arena came to the Quakes. Dax pointed out that Bruce is a builder and has succeeded at every club he’s been at. Alan doesn’t think the Quakes FO will be able to get it done. Gordo tells a hilarious story of how John Doyle told him that he Gordo was done and had nothing left, and Doyle had traded him to the Galaxy. But it turns out no deal had been made. It’s a funny story. Dax does an impression of Bruce asking him if Gordo is done and if Gordo can do more than just play 5v2. It made me laugh out loud in the gym. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/major-league-journeymen/id1685200482?i=1000675378277
