Mike Magee would have been a better choice. No experience necessary.

This the official Yarbrough thread, isn’t it? :)

All those people should have their comments screenshotted, so when Berhalter gets them to the playoffs and probably top 6 finish, they should lose their fan card "For Yee of little faith and a tiny penis.":ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Yes all those people, every single one who hates Berhalter, will probably sing his praise by end of 2025 when Chicago is contending, to be eliminated round 1.

I wouldn't be surprised if GGG does well in Chicago. Couldn't do much worse than the current sorry state of the team..

What matters is that Chicago took swift action to address the front office and head coaching role. Appropriate to debate GG’s strengths and weaknesses, but the guy has sufficient competency and experience to move that club forward.

Jack shill from the Quakes organization. They’ll be an update in January. Maybe.

If they're going to make a GM change, it needs to be done soon because you want your GM to pick the coach. If they're already interviewing coaches that means that 1) CL is going to stay, or 2) someone is driving the initial coaching search with CL as lame duck, or maybe they're even letting CL drive it with the understanding that he's going to step down and maybe take a lesser role again with the team.

Ibe been told SJ never talked to Berhalter... which I knew he already commited to Chicago.

Fraser, Bruce, Ian and Sava only.

Xg is also calculated and is the farthest thing from objective...

I don't know - Berhalter somewhat strikes me as yesterday's answer to tomorrow's question...

xG is objective as a measure of xG because it's calculated. It's the interpretation of xG that is subjective. Kind of like weather forecasting - I would assume that the forecasts we see online are calculated based on various data points and heuristics because they are constantly updated. There's no weather person sitting there putting their finger in the air and updating the forecasts every few seconds. In that sense they are calculated / objective. But they are not necessarily accurate in terms of what actually happens / happened. It's the old precision does not equal accuracy thing.

My god that rings familiar. Yet we continue to prove that wrong, year after year.

Well, on a long arc maybe, but not year to year basis. 2023 was better than 2022, though somehow we went last to 9th with only 2 more wins. We were the masters of the tie I guess. I don't know how we could possibly "top" this year's badness next year. (CL - "Hold my beer").

I'm confident we'll find a way... maybe not next year but eventually.

Supposedly GGG's new role includes "overseeing the Fire’s sporting operations, including the senior team, Fire FC II and the Chicago Fire Academy." That's a lot for one guy to do. Pretty sure he'll be 90% focused on the 1st team and delegating the Fire II and Academy stuff to other people. Which makes me think. If the Quakes hire a "dual role" guy, is there a scenario where CL keeps a job? Not advocating for that necessarily but wondering if we could go in that direction. Let's say we hire head coach who also is calling the shots on 1st team roster. We'd still need someone to oversee the academy, Next/Pro programs, scouting, etc. and also actually working on the mechanics of making the new signings happen (contracts, etc.).

Xg is calculated based on a variety of utterly subjective variables that differ from model to model and from individual scorer to other scorers. It is 100% subjective bullshit wrapped in formulae to make it look scientific…

There's subjectivity that goes into the creation of the models. But once the model is established, it's a calculated objective metric. You don't have to like the metric or think that it's worthwhile. But that doesn't mean that it's not objective in and of itself. There's no little man in a booth making subjective decisions about the xG of every shot.

It's the same way with the automated weather forecasts we get on our phones or whatever. A model was created - of course there's subjectivity into how that model is created - what parameters are important, how are they weighed, etc. But once the model is created, those forecasts are automated / calculated and objective. That doesn't mean that they're right, just that the data is calculated based on a specific model.

Maybe they move CL to another department, or offer him a coaching position somewhere in the under squads?
