Of the four teams left in the playoffs, none has ever won the MLS Cup before. DC remains the only team in the league to have won the championship more than once, and we'll be the only one with three for at least another two years.

True ... but one of the teams left is LA. And another one is the Crew.

Other than the MetroStars (who we all know are incapable of ever winning an MLS Cup) those are the two teams that I would least like to see hoist the trophy. I fear it would degrade our three championships if either of those teams were to win it all this year.

The Crew I can accept way before I can accept the LA whinners.

I hope New England wins it. After the Superbowl last year, a new stadium this year, and some of the best MLS fans in the league, it almost seems like destiny. Or is that density? I always get those confused.

All four teams left in the Playoffs are among my 9 most hated MLS teams.

That said, I'd rather see the Revs or Colorado win. Besides, if the Rapids win El Pibe might hang it up.

It would have been even funnier had he said "of my eleven most hated teams in MLS," but funny no less.

I was thinking the same thing today, Mike. What's a bit odd is that, except for LA, these are all teams that haven't won anything yet (no US Open Cups, etc., among them either).

Now, somebody please beat LA and this will have gone about as well as it could without us in it.

The two teams I hate the most in the league are MetroScum and Galaxatives.

The Metros are out. Hopefully the Crapids will beat the crap out of the Gals.

I hope it is a Revolution-Rapids final. I hope the Revs win.

The Galaxatives play the Crew in the US Open final on the 24th in Columbus. I hope that the Crew win that game.

lalagals have benefited tremendously from referee mistakes (offsides goal by Ruiz in penultimate reg season game vs Quakes, and PK-winning dive by the anchovy vs KC in round 1). Hopefully, their luck will run out and the Rapids will advance. If not, we can hope that lalagals choke again in the final.

Hopefully they will be reffed by someone who will not let them get away with the clutching and grabbing that they do to prevent counters.

The Crew will be harder to beat in CCS. But I'll bet only 8,000 fans show up for the USOC match-up (unless Crew win MLS Cup).

I kind of want it to be LA v NE, and I want NE to win. I'd love to see the Galaxy be the only team in the history of the league to have lost three championships.

They have. 2 to DC & 1 to SJ.

Although losing 4 times would be a treat for all of us!

That was the last year of Rongen ...

You know what they say about traumatic experiences. Sometimes they're so terrible that you just block them out of your memory entirely.

Well We didn't make the playoffs, the Dallas Burn have been eliminated, the San Jose eQuakes have been eliminated, and we're left with a bevvy of teams that for most of the season were given very little respect, and one of them will be champions.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Revs in MLS Cup, because that would be great for their fans, and for MLS attendance in general. Also, with LA opening a new stadium next season, if they were ever going to win some hardware, this is the least objectionable time to do it (although they're my least favorite of all 4 teams).

Poor Columbus Crew deserve some hardware ... I mean DC United wasn't even in the playoffs to knock them out, so maybe this'll be there year. And since we weren't in the "Open" Cup either, they've got a chance for the double. No double though.

I wouldn't mind seeing LA lose the finals of each, to the Cinderella story home team Revolution in the MLS Cup and then to America's Hardest Working Team in the Open Cup.

Then maybe the stress of yet again losing in the finals of MLS Cup and this time even losing the finals of the Open Cup might persuade Sigi to break up the team and trade Simon Elliott to DC United. ;)

Well, it would be a hat-trick of MLS Cup failures in Foxboro, Mass. !

    This is my hope:

NE 3:2 Col (OT) in the MLS Cup Final

    and

Crew 10:0 LA in the Open Cup Final

What I would give for those two results!!! LA just bothers me, especially since it seems that they get the first choice on any acquisitions the league brings in. Remember LA trying to get SJ's allocation slot so they could get Donovan?

    LA needs to LOSE!

Here's what I want in the final:

    NE 2
    LA 1

    Twellman 1
    Ruiz 92
    Ralston 93

make them work all game t tie it up, then right after they score, immediately NE answers to win the Cup. Stick the dagger in and twist.

I was thinking the same thing about there not being a repeat winner. Much as I hate the Galaxatives, I was rooting for the Lizards to get eliminated (and humiliated). Thanks to our resident troll (their only fan, I guess), KC has gone way up on my hate list this year.

And speaking of the playoffs, how come none of Wednesday's games were on regular TV? With all the boasting this spring about what a great TV contract they had, I expected the playoffs would be televised! It does make the shootout a better deal, though...

And what about the crappy attendance on Wednesday? 8k, 9k, and 14k?? For the deciding game of a playoff series? Pathetic!

And is anyone else glad we don't have to hear the Fire's stupid, annoying song for 90 minutes any more?

I agree that it got monotonous, but at least the BarnBurners and Ultra members tend to concentrate their membership and give solid support to their team for the full 90. They also travel to Cowlumbus well.

I wish the Screaming Eagles were as concentrated.

I still hate the Fusion and Mutiny.

It's tought to still have 11 most hated teams in a 10 team league.

But, I guess you're right, they aren't in the top 9 given that they are defunct.
