Here's an interesting article about Roma's troubles finding a sponsor for the team (translated from italian, so it might be a tad rough). A.S. Roma is still searching for a sponsor that can satisfy the demands for the management for Trigoria. We propose you the short history, that it collects voices, encounter and agreements vanish to you for a year and half to this part. From the end of the partnership with Mazda, to the rumours of these last days. June 2005: Terminated the agreement between Mazda and AS ROMA, triennial agreement for a total value of 21 million euro. Mazda proposes renews to inferior figures on the base of 5 million euro more bonus in case than it objects to you important caught up from the square AS Roma instead expects a advanced figure to 7 million euro in how much does not mean to svendere just brand. July-August 2005: Continues the negotiations between AS Rome and Mazda but to the end of Mazda August communicates the definitive breach of the negotiations with the AS Roma. September 2005: During this period the new sponsor begins circular rumors the care probable, the Valsir Lombardic company of the field arredamento design of inner and it is spoken about an agreement on the base of 5 million euro. In this month sponsor of AS Roma in years eighty outside comes also the name of historical Barilla but it is not arrived to null of concrete. October 2005: manifest Italease Bank just the interest to become sponsors of the giallorosa square, but thinking excessive the demands for AS Roma, decides to leave to lose and the name of a banking group is made road important Antonveneta Bank but also in this case without to reach to an agreement. November 2005: After the refutation from part of Wind of a possible interest to become sponsor is the Betfair.com English colossus of the gaming and of the betting to create interest around AS ROMA but seen the fact that the Italian noprmativa does not allow to their sponsorship the negotiation it ends in attic. January 2006: Italease Bank sponsors A.S. Roma in some games but the relationship will not go beyond. September the 2006: daily paper "the ROMANISTA" speaks about an agreement practically concluded between the AS Roma and the airline low cost Ryanair on the base of 5 million euro, agreement that will come refuted some day after from the same society giallorossa. December the 2006: Always "ROMANISTA" exits citing blog the Melablog.it on an important interest from part of the Apple to sponsor AS Roma on the base of beyond 9 million euro annual, hypothesis soon "sent back to the sender" from Tiziana Scanu, PR manager Apple Italy that categorically refutes whichever interest from part of Apple. To the end of the month it takes to body a possible interest from part of a Swiss industry of industrial machinery and expecting seems to be two society: Schindler and Schultzer. The giallorosa society is still to the search of a jersey sponsor.
I don't know what the problem is. Maybe they're asking for too much money? Because they are a good club for any sponsor to advertise on.
I'm surprised they haven't gotten one yet. That Apple rumor was hot last month, but according to this report, it was never going to happen (I even heard rumors they had an ad campaign lined up with Totti & Perrotta).
maybe someone can translate this one. it seems roma found one but because of the riots in catania it is in doubt. found it at corederoma.it: La ricerca era durata oltre 18 mesi.
The search lasted 18 months. AS Roma, without a sponsor for more than 18 months, had found two companies who might have been interested in investing in the yellow red, but the tragedy in Catania and the decision made by the Italian federation to stop games made the companies reconsider. They were a giant Swiss industrial company and a German producer of commercial products. As quoted in Il Corrierre della Sera (a major Italian newspaper) the negotiations had been taking place with both companies in parallel with great security. The two agencies, however, after the terrible fate of "Massimino" concluded that Italian soccer was too dangerous and violent to be a good publicity vehicle for them. According to sportsecononmy.it, the capital city club searched for 18 months among numerous important worldwide corporations. The last partner was Mazda motors, who's contract ran out on June 30th, 2006, and was worth more than 7 million Euros per year.
I know the kits look sweet without sponsors, but Roma doesn't have the money to just sit around and be picky about who and how much.
i saw roma playing last week with "pepsi collection" on their jerseys, along with a picture of 3 different pepsi cans on it. I guess we found a sponsor?
No, that was a one-off to tie in with a Pepsi promotion going on in Italy. Pepsi sponsors Roma, but is not Roma's "shirt sponsor." The latest rumor is that they are negotiating with Emirates Airlines. In any case, their Champions League performance must be helping; who wouldn't want to sponsor a team that is this entertaining to watch?
Seeing how atrocious our jersey's looked with that Pepsi crap on them I'm tempted to say to hell with it. I think the Emirates logo would fit on there nicely though.
