She has written the Portuguese version theme song for the Euro2004 as well....

Her parents are from Sao Miguel, Azorces and they moved to British Columbia, Canada!

Ela é mesmo. And somehow she ended up passing as Hispanic here in the States and was included in an Hispanic music awards show. Unreal.

It's none of my business but can't they find someone in Portugal to sing it?

She will never be allowed to sing the national anthem in Portugal....

1 very simple reason, she cant speak Portuguese..

She was once invited to a show in SIC ,with HERMAN JOSE and no one could understand a word she was saying....

Plus the anthems in soccer competitions are only played by bands ,no words just beat.....

    Marco,
She can speak Portuguese and she is very proud of being Portuguese! I even have an autograph from her in Portuguese. So u don't know what u r saying that she cant speak the language!

She even has a song on her last album in Portuguese...must be her Azorces accent that no one can understand..I think her new album will be a huge success!

It's none of my business because I'm not Portuguese or Luso-American but why go all the way to Victoria, BC to find someone to sing the national anthem? Surely there must be sufficient talent in Portugal itself. Não é não?

Alright, the Azores! Nelly Furtado! Pauleta! Wooo!

Chowderhead, from the native singing talent that I've seen on RTPi, I can fully understand why some people would want Nelly Furtado to sing the anthem or the tournament theme song. Maybe it's because I don't like fados like everyone else in my family...

Estou ligado na sua. I enjoy RTP. But, you're right: there is some bizarre image-seeking going on. I like the fado singers, though, because they're real. There must be an opera singer in Portugal who can handle their hino.

    Pauleta é açoreano? No wonder.

    Valeu o papo, moçada.
