The circle on the mock-up doesn't look nearly as bad as on the actual unis itself (from what I've seen of Mexico and Brazil.). Still, I'm not going out and buying this kit
Groooaaan! I guess I can hold out hope that it will look better in person. Why does the USSoccer website have any name but Reyna on a number ten jersey?
Agreed. The "pool ball" number (as they've been called in the US Mens Forum) on the front looks worse in real photos than in the mock up. The old uni's took a long time to grow on me...and not all that much, these will as well.
I know I'm going to get blasted, but I like the design. What I don't like is that we let our national team identity become subordinated to Nike's look and feel. Especially since this design is really unusual.
Yeah, that's my beef as well. If it was unique to the U.S. perhaps I'd try to let it grow on me. It is kind of cool in an organic, very post, post-modern sense. We'll see tomorrow. I do wish they'd go back to Red though. But to have entire slabs of conntries, let alone your one and only hyperpower, and the world's soccer hyperpower (e.g. Brazil) slaves to the fashion gnomes at Nike. Well, that's just phuked up dude.
Will Holland be wearing the new Nike jersey tomorrow too? It'll look like a park district game (other than the 60k fans and quality of play).
Well, I actually like the new unis. I saw on Fox Sports World Report the Dutch version, and I think it looks pretty sharp--and I think the circle number thing looks pretty good, too. But what do I know? Obviously not much, since I'm not complaining to death the choices made about every little thing that is soccer here in the US.
I saw the Portugese rollout on FSW Report last night. It's not so much complaining as I don't think Nike can design worth a damn. They're apparently trying to be neo-minimalist or something with the subtle taper on one sleeve but it just doesn't work for me. Plus they're likely to cost 120 bucks. Nike used to do a decent job with the jerseys. The 1998-99 red and the 00-01 White home and Red away with the navy shorts were some of the best uniforms ever. But I dunno about these latest ones, and I do agree that going navy blue away exclusively is a mistake.
Hmmm, so they look like a re-working of Nike's "full 90" kit. https://www.soccer.com/IWCatProduct...Id=1&pcount=&Product_Id=116534&Key_id=1759093
That face again, must ........ The last jersey I really liked was the 1998 WC unis. I have a white one with a liberty patch on one sleeve and a BarnBurners patch on the other. I've been desperately seeking a red one in XL, they disappeared the moment Nike brought out the last ones. You would think some shop somewhere would have a few of them in storage. I think those are Nike full 90's also. Peace
and what about the ball? Methinks it looks as if the "Full 90" designers have been playing too much pool.
Ha ha, my opinion is the opposite. I think the jersey is an improvement, to the extent that I will probably buy this one. Now I think the ball is bad. La Liga is getting the new Nike ball, too. SO, if MLS keeps the Puma ball, which I think is their best yet, we will finally have a cooler-looking ball than a major European league.
Re: That face again, must ........ Is this the jersey in question??? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2790087907&category=2891
Re: Re: That face again, must ........ I'm getting a little addled in my old age, I think I remember it being solid red. But whether or not my memory sucks, that's one fine lookin' shirt. I'm going to have to seriously consider this whole EBay stuff. Mahalo
yeah your right...the dutch jerseys look really really good, there something about em that its not clutter with two tone colors or too many colors...then again thier jerseys ussaly always look pretty good even though im not a big fan of orange
