I know you do, I was just talking smack, and most of it was sarcastic humor. That's just how I roll....and I felt like saying Jackass a couple of times.
NEW IDEAS change the logo of the club for to celebrate the Victoria in MLS cup more similar to the logo of Real Madrid look here: http://s794.photobucket.com/albums/y...=RealSLC-1.jpg http://s794.photobucket.com/albums/y...t=RealSL-1.jpg why not? @import "http://diacache.daylife.com/_static/release-46080/v2/css/daylife/thickbox.css";
Just liked Bayern since I was a kid. I've always liked the Bundesliga, and my family heritage is extremely German, I'm a kraut through and through. I guess I just liked Bayern as a kid because they were the best, and it's sort of stuck. No real specific reason I guess.
Section 25 Just Curious, I was born 30 miles south of Munich and have always been a 1860 Munich fan. "Hard the last few Years" I am definatly cheering for Bayern in the Champions league.
I'm conflicted by these crests... On one hand...if you're gonna pose, you may as well pose all the way... On the other hand...this would be yet another subtraction from the already lacking Salt Lakey identity (as opposed to Madridy)...
Nerd party! Cherry Valley, by chance? Used to go over to Catalina every year on the Argus, a 1905 schooner the OC Council owned.
How often does RSL change their kit style? I've liked the striped look of barcelonas colors and wondered if RSL ever thought about doing a kit similar to theirs? OT : I'm pretty new to club soccer so I'm wondering how you came about supporting your different clubs? Did you guys/gals pick you teams from their success, style of play, players on the team? I'm shying away from supporting the bigger teams in the EPL (chelsea,Man utd & City, Arsenal) they remind me to much of the NFL & MLB teams (cowboys,redskins,Red Sox,yankees etc). I'm more off an underdog kinda of a guy.
I started supporting West Ham because some of the people who first got me watching soccer were West Ham supporters. One was also a Man U supporter, but like you I'm not a fan of teams that can buy success in the league (the possible exception being Barca, but I like them mostly because of their anti-Franco history). Man City's a good team but not really a Yankees-type team--the big four are Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U, and Liverpool (this year's a little different, with Villa in third place in the table currently, and Liverpool down in 7th, but generally speaking those four teams wind up in the top four places in the table, sometimes with one exception). Really, if you're trying to pick an EPL team to support, look into their histories and traditions, and into where they play if you're partial to a particular city or region, and support based on that.
I followed Columbus until the Salt Lake expansion. IF Elfsborg because I have close family friends in Boras. I also support Ajax, Inter, and Barca because of Ibrahimovic. I started supporting Man City a little bit this year, in the hope they'd shake up the top 4.
Our's remains the worst team name in MLS, but its our's and is here to stay. However, in MLS its notorious for that very reason. In the tradition of Jerry Jones, notorious is better than non-memorable. Maybe in 15 years it will be synonymous with "dynasty". Wouldn't that be something? Saying that ripping off the moniker "Real" is the same as other European "ripoffs" such as "FC", etc...is without merit. Further, FC is not a rip off name. It simply identifies an organization as a football or soccer club. The simplicity of it is attractive. I will continue to type our name as "ReAL" since the club did it at one point, and used a little crown as the accent mark. My keyboard has neither an accent mark key nor a crown key. Besides, if I type REAL or Real to on-soccer fans, they have no idea what I mean. When I type ReAL they still have no idea of what I mean, except that it must be something different than "real". Whatever misguided genesis of the team name, it is name of the team that I support so I might as well love it!
Not the biggest fan of Real so I like many other's seem to be referring to the team as RSL Sounds pretty good too!!!
Worst name in MLS? Not by far! I will take ReAL Salt Lake, spelled however you like over uninspired names in this league like Rapids. Awful. Wizards. Lame. Earthquakes. Blah. Dynamo. Ug. These are all names triple A baseball clubs would turn down. Especially the rapids. Any idiot would have put the c in front and known crapids would follow. There are dozens of clubs with rhe ReAL moniker across the globe and I doubt any of their fans feel unworthy of the title. RSL is one star closer to ending this self loathing.
