The CyberRays practice at West Valley college, and I live a short bike ride away. I'm doing taxes today, and needed an exercise break, so I biked there are watched for about 10 minutes. They were doing drills to emphasize wing-play and crosses to the strikers, so I only got a catch to see a few of the players perform. Most were doing set-up passes or applying light defensive pressure, while others did the run up the wings, cross, and the strikers got to finish. In summary, they looked extremely sharp. Good, quick runs, nice crosses, and excellent communications. A few details: LaKeysha is so much more impressive than the other goalies. We all know she is great, but the gap is huge. Thori and Brandi can play any position at any level. Thori's crosses and Brandi's finishes were top notch. Sissi looks faster than I remember and a bit more buff. Her finishing was also in top form. She looks noticeably improved from the last two seasons. I'm not sure what Pretinha is doing in a uniform. Slow and uninspired. The rest were an amorphous blob of athletes. Most of them were working extremely hard, but sticking to their roles in the drill. The scrimmage is tomorrow. Should be fun. I'll post after that game. Now back to the taxes.
