Do you still think he's pond scum? Great. Not only is he not going to be helping the Sounders this summer, I have him on my MFLS fantasy team but today I SWITCHED HIM OUT OF MY STARTING LINEUP for Casey BLEEPING Schmidt of Colorado as an afterthought, and THEN CHING GOES AND SCORES IN HIS FIRST MINUTE WITH HIS NEW TEAM AND MAKES ME LOOK SILLY. Grrr. So, how do you like Ching now?
sounds like somebody should go have a drink ..... but ching will do until the first time he screws up, then boy will i be pissed!
He looked very impressive! I am surprised how good he is. He wins just about every air ball and hold the ball very well. He compliments Landon very well.
The kid was working his ass off out there, and taking a hell of a lot of knocks. Once Colorado found out he could score, they were hammering him. His performance was far out in front of what the nay-sayers were bitchin' about.
Mullan was pretty impressive as well, as was Dunivant!       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Props to all three newbies, Ching showed he really does know how to use his size. I'm pleasantly suprised.
Just because Ching put one in the net, does not make him a star......he did his job. Ching didn't show me anything that i hadnt seen before from him. If he is so great how come he didn't put another one in, he had 90 minutes. Colorado just plain sucked tonight. Thank god for that! Don't expect KC to suck this weekend in SJ.
It is not critical that Ching and Mullin be stars. It is critical that they use their speed and be threatening. If they play this year the way they played last night, defenses will not be able to key exclusively on Donovan. Last night was an extremely encouraging performance all around. We might not suck.
I totally agree, A58. But as one of Ching's preseason apologists, I would answer TC's question this way: "Let's wait until the quarter and halfway marks of the season to make a judgment." Look for a Hawaii flag in 111 on Saturday.
Even from watching Ching last year I felt he had a superior killer instinct to De Rosario's. There's absolutely no way De Ro finishes that goal in Denver. Plus, Ching controls plenty of balls that De Ro would just fall down and hope for a whistle on.
Yeah, mon. Dat comes from smokin' pleasantries and list'nin' to laid-back Bob. Maybe we should spike his stash with some Mean-Green.
Great play from Ching! That first minute goal was exceptional and his overall play matched it. He is a big physical forward that will match well with LD up top. It will be good to see LD work some of his magic and spring Ching to fight for the ball in the box. I also agree about Mullan! That guy has some speed! Go Quakes!
The guy scored "a" goal......alot of people are treating it like the pre-season victory over the chinese team. Now we're going to the MLS Cup? Ching will replace Ruiz as MLS leading goal scorer? It's like you guys are niner fans or something......If they win, they are superbowl bound, if they lose, FIRE MOOCH!
Good point! The next two games will be a good test for Ching and will tell us if we need to FIRE MOOCH! If he can score against LA I will be the happiest Quakes fan there is!
No, we are happy with the results, but most of us realize that it was one game. With some people on this board lowering the expectations to Death Valley level, it was nice to start off the season with a road win. Wait until ten games into the season before making any conclusions on this season. Although you already have Ching figured out after seeing him only in a couple of games, some us are willing to give him a little more time... Mahalo...
I was very impressed with Ching, especially with his work-rate....In fact, I was really nervous about losing so many of our players, but I feel much better about things now after seeing everyone in action. Lurko
