I know about the quinas nickname and the tuga (porTUGAl) nickname before it with quinas I associate it with the mascot for the euro and tugas is plain dumb.

Also lay off the english, outside of the dutch they were the best guests we had at euro. The worst by far were the greeks and I'm not saying that cause we lost. Before the first game and throughout the tourney every greek had this sour puss attitude like I just spit on them (even if they were on fire I wouldn't spit on em) The English are good people with a bad rep.

We know the french are called 'Les Bleux', but
Portugal needs a cooler name, something that takes in account their national colours, their religion, their great history, their great future.

'Os Cruz Vermelhos' - 'The Red Crosses'
Something that has become synonymous with Portugal soccer is the red cross we wear on our right breast. I'd like to incorporate the Sea too but it would get too long.

That would sound too much like we were delivering aid instead of playing futebol.

Here in Canada, they refer to them as the "Brazilians of Europe." Very flattering but we need a different name that's more our own. How about 'Equipa de Deus' ?

I saw the last game at Old Trafford. I like that Phantom free kick in the dying seconds. Nice gift for Beckham.

Isn't this supposed to be a thread about our NT nickname? Although I believe we already have one: a equipa das Quinas. Anyway, how did this turn out to be about England, diving, Greece, and phantom free kicks?

This is a thread for National Team nicknames, please take this jabbar over to World Rivalries.

And for the record, why come in here and get everyone going again? You are so clearly a troll......

Haha, Sorry guys, i got a little Carried away with this england66 dude. It's all cool.

Portugal already got a Nickname. Selecao das Quinas. We don't need any more nicknames, it starts to get kinda hurting.

Here in Toronto we are still trying to get the Italians to stop with their Portugal jokes about how we always cheer for Brazil since we never make it to the World Cup. But things will change now :D
