Speaking of U17s. Remember that U17 team with Elis lol Him and Alvarez seem to be the only players from that group that actually went on to have a decent career lol U17 has rarely been a successful group for Honduras. It’s very hit or miss. Which is why I don’t put too much stock into it. Youth development seems to be a forgone conclusion in Honduras. Players don’t mature till they’re like 28 in Honduras smh
CCL bout to start up. Olimpia should have enough to beat Atlas Motagua show signs of life recently but I don’t think it’s enough to defeat Pachuca. Real España are in dire form. It’ll take a miracle to get a result against Vancouver.
Yea. Olimpia are relatively stacked this season. Really all they were missing was an in-form Benguche. Alvarez, Pinto, Lopez, Rodriguez… that’s as about as deep as you want that position to be. Player like Solano coming off the bench smh. Fagetaboutit.
Is Jose Garcia not ready to be called up? He wasn't but 33 Leveron was... Other than Denil who is the clear choice to start at CB?
Motagua with the unthinkable. They eliminate Pachuca in Mexico. smh if only Olimpia didn’t bottle it.
only thing that will help my team, is if Quioto can recreate some of his Montreal Magic tonight. If not it’ll be a long one. Davies will run rampant
Did you really expect anything more? Definitely not a fan of Diego Vasquez, poor tactics without even any charisma to make up for it. Playing extravagant formations doesn't work for us. Either 5 at the back or 3, which I recall Pinto insisting on? Regardless, the gap between us and the top CONCACAF teams and is just too big. Ultimately, we can't begin to compete whilst all our players are playing at such an inferior level. The best we can expect in the short term is to find a coach that can utilise a style that gets the most from the players we have and make it much harder for teams to score against us. Long term though, I don't see how we can compete in the region whilst we don't have players playing in the top leagues regularly.
No news on Kobe Hernandez? Seems like Guate have their skates on... they're in the final stages of shoring up Aaron Herrera.
Fenafuth will fumble it they are not really willing to fight for players, also want to point out that Nicholas Hagen who plays for Guate is his teammate so he could steer him towards them.
Happy with that group for Copa Oro. We need to be playing the better sides to really see where we're at. Even if the results aren't favourable it should hopefully drive us to change manager sooner rather then later.
They haven't been able to convince him yet. He seems very Americanized to me, but IMO Honduras has a better chance if only the FENAFUTH tried. Hagen will probably leave this summer when his contract expires. The club retaliated against him because he refused to renew his contract, and he didn't even appear for the first game of the season not even in the bench. Hagen has personal problems with the new manager and they don't get along.
Yeah we need to face better competition I agree but I don’t see us making it out of the group stage with the way we have been playing. Canada was gifted a easy group (no offense to Guatemala).
I kinda like our new Black kit but the other two are Ugly, Fenafuth keep sucking off Joma for whatever reason.
I thought the same thing when I saw the black kit. I like it so much that I would actually wear it. But the other two are ummm ugly. KELME makes nicer kits than Joma IMO, they're also Spanish btw.
I'm actually happy with this group because IMO we have a chance to advance ahead of Cuba and Trinidad/Guadeloupe.
I feel like the standard overall in CONCACAF has improved from where it was. That's not to say the standard competes with other regions but the standard amongst teams has increased. Canada could now be argued are in the same category as the US and Mexico. Jamaica has had a drive in recruiting a lot of English based players. Haiti, Curacao and even Suriname benefit from second generation players in Europe too. Guate have strengthened by nationalising a couple of MLS players. Same with ES, plus they've added those Colombian brothers. Panama seem to be investing in a long term project under Christiansen. It's would be good to see Gold Cup being more competitive, it can only be good for CONCACAF. Not sure where it leaves us as it means FENAFUTH really have to do more to keep up.
Don't forget about Cuba, they are now finally starting to use their players from abroad. We have some decent Cuban footballers in Centroamérica, plus they have Onel Hernández from Norwich City.
