Tits & Dragons Mk 2 season two opener once again revealed that the current showrunners largely lack B&Ws knack for infusing the show with some much-needed humor.
I may give this a look just to see if they only focus on the psychopaths like Andrew Tate or give some acknowledgement towards the more potentially helpful options like Art of Manliness. This could just be typical VICE going for shock factor or it could be a legitimate look into guys trying to find their way in a rapidly changing world.
Friday, September 6 is the theatrical release date for the film The Thicket starring Peter Dinklage. The notable part is that it's a film being produced and distributed by Tubi Films. FAST services are now putting their own films in theaters.
RDJ as Victor Von Doom? I'll give Marvel credit, that's the most interesting thing they've tossed out there in a while.
I thought it reeked a bit of desperation. Bringing back what was arguably the most popular actor in their ensemble after many of their most recent films have underperformed.
It's definitely desperate, but it is interesting. Bringing back the Russo brothers and RDJ is definitely something.
I think the problem with that is, both the Russos and RDJ hark back to a very successful era, only it's not clear if that is something movie-going audiences still want. I don't think superhero fatigue is about RDJ no longer playing Stark or the Russos no longer directing Avengers films.
A retrospective on the movie "Stick It" in time for the gymnastics events in the Olympics, and an interesting read about whether perhaps the movie empowered participants and led to more understandable and transparent judging.
After the masterpiece that Daft Punk put together for the Tron: Legacy soundtrack we now know who is doing the music for Tron: Ares.
Where have all the really tall actresses gone? We had Sigourney Weaver, Geena Davis, and Jane Lynch all at 6' tall but I can't think of any young actresses that are anywhere close to that.
Bobby Draper erasure! Frankie Adams is listed at 5'11", which is the same as Sigourney Weaver. There's also MacKenzie Davis (5'10") and Elizabeth Debicki (6'3").
I didn't realize Debicki was that tall. I wonder if any of those three will reach the level of fame of Geena or Sigourney at their peak?
The director of Rebel Ridge confirming that Aaron Pierre smoothly climbed out of a truck and up to a bridge himself and without wires is one of those randomly mythical things you hear about some guy who is some small town’s local legend. https://t.co/XA8fnviLN7 pic.twitter.com/SpLX1aWoOe— kyle alex brett (@kyalbr) September 9, 2024 Just watched this. This dude is so effortlessly cool and charismatic on screen, I have a hard time remembering a new face (to me anyway) that left such a strong impression. Honestly John Boyega dropping out of this project after principal photography had already started might be a huge blessing not just for this film but for cinema as a whole.
The Night Stalker is the feature film this weekend on Svengoolie. Darren McGavin, who starred in the film, sequel, and eventual TV series, had a career full of fascinating credits for things like Mike Hammer, A Christmas Story, and Murphy Brown (where he was nominated for an Emmy). Maybe my favorite bit about him is he played the father in Billy Madison and when he was a kid he had a stepfather named William Maddison.
