I don't think MLS clubs would have this much traction to rely change the general tone of the tournament, a lot of it feels incredibly gimmicky and silly. I follow it because of curiosity, but if they announced theyd wrap it up tomorrow without a winner it would be totally fine with me. Of course, once we get knockout games the intensity and pressure to win will elevate, simply because of the format. Even when it's for a flowerpot, when we compete, we get serious. Whether it's in bowling or mini golf, playing playing Daytona USA or Sega Rally at the arcades. When we compete, it triggers an emotional response. That's how darts became an immensely popular TV sport. Close battles and high stake duels translate. Imagine a league where the last placed team every 3 weeks would get knocked out. The fights and effort would be insane at the bottom.
I am starting to get into it, but it will depend how we play in the next game. The games were much closer than we had expected, and the element of the unknown made them even more exciting. While I had heard of most of the non-UEFA clubs, I had no real sense of how they would perform in a setting like this. In the past, teams like Cameroon or Nigeria would arrive at the World Cup Finals with squads full of relatively unknown players who would go on to surprise the world with their talent. But by 2010, any national team made up of "unknowns" no longer implied that the players were undiscovered—it more often meant they were simply of lesser quality. This Club World Cup surprised me.
Probably: Vini — Gonzalo GulerBellingham — Valverde TchouFran - Hujisen - Asencio - Trent Courtois
Rodrygo was better than both Vini and Jude in the first match. Looks like Xabi keeps up Carlos way of handling the stars i.e. no meritocracy
Hope to see a great win with big moments from Arda and Gonzalo. Also let's hope we see more of Xabis way of playing and at least some of the stars improving
Lol no one is starting on merit right now, it's all about who is the most ready to play, and Xabi is trying different things out.
horrific stuff this team is fundamentaly broken Asensio looks good only because the other oprions sucks,is the guy really good NO what an embarasment
