I dunno, seems like a nothing issue honestly. Inter, a finalist of the CL couldn't get past Monterrey with an ancient Ramos actually scoring lol. Can we just take a few games just anazling before coming to these weird as conclusions like .5 seconds into the new season?
Call me pessimistic but i don't think we'll start the league well and probably kick in 2nd half of the season.
Tibo mentioned Carlo's name because he was the coach. If he is really displeased with Carlo, I'm happy for him to say so honestly and openly. We could use some more honesty from the players. If people mistake it for disrespect, so be it.
Simply hilarious that anyone would expect Xabi to overhaul all tactics, philosophy, club atmosphere, individual attitudes, etc by the first preseason match after 5(?) training sessions.
To be honest, i don't even like that idea. Why does everything have to change? Why not improve on what didn't work and keep what worked? The obsession with throwing away everything we did and achieved in the past is strange, especially when the last time the club did it, it tanked the team completely. I trust Xabi to be a bit more aware of what his players are capable of and what his team is able to do and what not to do.
I'm not sure what you mean by "have to," but it seems pretty widely agreed that Xabi has a significantly different style as manager than Carlo. Being soundly beat in all four Clasicos last season will obviously foment a strong desire for considerable changes as well.
Which doesn't mean they'll work by default though. We hired a manager that got his ass handed to him in similar fashion by the way. Atalanta mopped the floor with them. I think Xabi is a smart man and he's realistic enough about what's possible and isn't. I just don't get this idea that he guarantees success
Nobody mentions we are also playing bad football because of mentality, what do most of the players in this squad have to prove? They have won multiple league and champions league title. Why would they give it their all? If we played a champions league final next week, would we win? We spent all season crying about referees, not reinforcing the team in January, threatening referees and everyone mocked us. And all of these things I mention are external factors, meaning the players have no say so in these decisions. Management has to be blamed if we go into next season with the same mentality, when your boss is threatening to not play a match, it affects the players as well. Pathetic performance from the players, Xabi has a lot to do.
I feel like our attitude has been kind of weird. From this "we're in it to win it! Lessssgoooooo" to then "come on guys, give us time" at the first misstep. Was time not required when all the players kept saying we're there to win it and can't wait leading up to the game? We're losing a lot in leadership and it's starting to show. I suspect we'll have a much easier time winning the next one, but our entire attitude has delivered unnecessary pressure.
Something completely different, am I the only one noticing just how badly Bellingham is struggling through this? Enough already. Get him back healthy ffs.
Yeah mentally probably isn’t fully stable. I mean I wouldn’t be if I’m playing a new role where i am required to do more work on and off the ball while the front line that gets to attack freely and do nothing else. He should do get the surgery done now, rest and prepare for next season without crazy expectations. It’s kind of sad to see him playing this bad to be honest. I like the player personally.
A few have mentioned this, but my take away from yesterday’s game was the attitude hasn’t changed for the players who should be showing a bit more. Vinny, Rodrygo, Bellingham, Fede and Tchoumeni all looked like they had no worries at all and were secure in their position on the team, to hell with whatever Xabi may think of them. That’s the alarming part. Either they are all so burned out and the last thing they want is football right now or the same nonsense will carry over into next season. Vinny/Bellingham concerns me the most. At least Jude has the shoulder excuse, but Vinny? WTF he’s just regressing to a Sunday league player at this point.
Aside from Mbappe, our entire team needs a kick in the ass. It's a shame Vini is untouchable. A few games on the bench could do wonders.
Vini plays without thinking. He never knows what his next step will be. he just dribbles and hopes for the best. 200M would be insane not to accept. Xabi has somehow to increase his decision making drastically.
He keeps doing those passes that will obviously be easily blocked by the defense. It's like he gets bored and ends our attack right there. It's really frustrating.
Still shocked at how the team looked exactly like it did last season Vinni,Rodrygo being the usual garbage,no press other than 15 minutes maybe, the midfield can't dictate the game, make passes and create.....this 433 is a cancer
To be fair, it was hot and no sense in risking a muscle injury with over exertion in the opening game, given how we’re already hammered with injuries. But yes, more focus and better execution should have been there
Um last season ended like five minutes ago. Honestly these players needed physical and mental rest badly and instead they got even more exertion. This tournament is a terrible idea.
One player that I think has also been untouchable and doesn't get criticized in the last year is Fede Valverde. He was wearing the captain's armband yesterday and I hardly noticed him outside of the penalty miss. Fede has always been a hard working player, but have we seen that box to box engine in some time? He's good at carrying the ball with space in front of him, but he struggles to connect defense to attack with passing. I don't want to be rash, but I feel like since we gave Fede Kroos' 8, we've barely seen the best of him. Vini has not been himself for some time and he gets a lot of criticism in here, but the likes of Jude and Fede don't get anywhere near as much criticism and have both been just as poor imo.
