that the Crew are going with a different kind of yellow for their kits next year. AND...that they will be utilizing their grey kits from the Open Cup for regular season play. This was information shared by a player on the Crew to MLS Detroit while he had some of his players trying out last week in Columbus. Maybe I'm the last to hear about this, manbe I'm not. But's it's always fun to think you have inside information. Feel free to speculate.
They're an ugly gold color. Somebody had a picture - check with Kryptonite. As for the gray, I suppose that's possible, but the black ones were new this yearand the catalogs have had them for under 8 months now so I doubt they're being dropped. So I question a) whether they really will wear three different uniforms for MLS games and b) whether they're really planning on putting FOUR jerseys on the market at the same time (new gold, new black, new gray and training jersey). IMO adidas is smarter than that.
I never lie...except to my wife...and boss...and priest. Hell, I'm not even Catholic. And I agree with you Bill. Just passing off second hand, unverifiable information. Which pretty much qualifies as gospel around here.
Let me clarify, this thing was found on Ebay, but looks official. It isn't a replica, as evident by the "Equipment" tag on the side, something the replicas don't have, only the real deal. That being said, who knows if this really wasn't made by some some 10 year old Jap in South Central Toledo? No one really knows...
Upon closer inspection, it looks like someone stitched a Crew patch on the Brazilian kit. If that's the case, that's one hell of a embroider job on the Adidas logo, as well. Strange. I mean, doesn't it look like the Brazilian Nike kit? Or am I seeing things?
That looks to be right from the artists rendition of how the Jersey would look. I think somehow the drawing of the jersey got darker, probably a bad scaner. Here's the drawing of it.
I like the design except for the collar. I hate collars, and they always want to flip-up. Stern John used to fiddle with his (black Crew jersey) during games. Used to drive me crazy.
Maybe that's what our forwards need. You see the collar would flip up and hit Stern in the back of the head reminding him to score. Get those collars here quickly.
I don't think anyone consider that element...none that you somehow associated the collar with Splargy's favorite club, no one will buy it.
From this morning's "Rumblings" in the Dispatch: At the risk of sounding like a whiny bitch, do MLS teams have to change uniforms almost every season? My gosh, it's like they think people have nothing better to do than drop money each season in an attempt to keep pace with the team's latest look. Maybe it's just me, but you would think that a young league would try to establish some continuity a begin some traditions. I guess MLS HQ and the uniform manufacturers are smarter than me, though.
i'm with you on that. MLS's way of thinking is that if the teams change their kit's designs, then the fans will feel compelled to stay current. They'd also be pumping money into the league, i think. Anyway, I wish we could bring back and permanently keep the black one from 1999 (thin yellow stripes across chest with collar) and the all yellow one.
i never thought the uniforms looked all that gold in the first place.....is next year going to be a pastel canary yellow compared to this years?
I thought this past season's uniforms looked great. I saw a post of a jersey hanging up on a rack posted somewhere that was claimed to be the Crew jersey for next season. If it was, then they'll look fine, although I think this past season's was better. It's kinda hard to judge from a crappy pic of a shirt on a hanger. -Tron
I doubt that the changes in uniforms have much to do with hoping the fans will buy new kits seasonally. I would think that the sponsors and teams are trying to come-up with the most comfortable/state-of-the-art jersey for the players to perform in. The 2-layer mesh black kit was well liked by the lads, so I imagine that they wanted the "gold" kit to be similar. I haven't seen it yet, but does the new gold, uh, yellow kit have the 2 layers with the mesh? Just like the technology and materials are always changing for their boots, the same is going to happen to their jerseys. While they're at it, they'll mess with the color and trim. I still hate collars.
