There's been some muted discussion about this lately and quite frankly it's something we should be talking about a bit more. It's apparent that our crowds aren't quite up to scratch, although the opening round figures were apparently higher than last year's. We're seeing some good signs in some places (Adelaide for instance), and debacles in others (Newcastle, anyone?). Granted, we're coming up on the arse end of the thugby season now, so the viewers and paying ticket holders will more likely be tuning into the finals series there, but is it reasonable to suggest that is the only reason why the A-League's crowds seem to be lackluster again?
I agree, some have been dreadful, especially Brisbane. But guys on FFT are saying it's because prices have rocketed up to $40 a ticket, and if it's true, there is where your problem lies. Same goes for Gold Coast, they're prices are absurd. Palmer is fixated on trying to copy thugby that he's also copied their ticket prices that idiot

Really? The prices for those tickets have gone up that much? My father sent me a Sydney FC package I received in the mail and the gist of it suggested that they've tried to maintain the same prices as last year. How in the hell can some clubs raise the prices up by that much?
Membership in Perth went up slightly - but price per game was about the same. Don't know what Brisbane are thinking at $45 a ticket though
Those Brisbane prices are crazy, explains the rubbish crowds! CCM have been doing better thus far than I expected, AU have been good, and while Melbourne is down, I'm glad that the numbers they're getting are considered bad. It's a long way from where it all used to be, but yep, it's a problem. I'm worried about GCU, especially now that they've lost a game. Melbourne next year could be a concern, a 2nd club, where are the extra fans coming from? Will be interesting to see the crowd in Canberra on Friday.
It is a real concern with the downturn of fans thus far this season. I think the FFA needs to address the ticket pricing, though I believe they fully intentionally know that WC2010 is coming up and looking to up the price now so when next season kicks off, demand will dramatically jump and fans won't care how much they'll pay. The FFA are bonkers if they think the price of the tickets will send the fans in their droves.
Melbourne had something like 15k tonight. Shocking But this is what you get with poor scheduling. Thursday FFS, the FFA need to do their homework.
Yeah, I think the Thursdays are a decent explanation at why the Victory crowd's been lacklustre... shall we lay down the ticket prices as cause for the mediocrity happening in the Roar camp?
Yeah well here's it all briefly from my point of view: Newcastle-just a poorly run club atm, fans don't have faith in it right now Brisbane-disgraceful ticket prices Melbourne-poorly scheduled thursday games CCM-the club itself, is getting stale and i honestly dunno how it can be helped unless you get a different manager, promote a different type of football etc. whole club needs revamping but this is just me looking in from the outside...i dunno how CCM fans themselves feel about it. Gold Coast-disgraceful ticket prices NQF-needs time Sydney-Doing well Adelaide-Doing very well Welly-Doing well Perth-Doing well

And we'll also be seeing the end of the NRL season this coming Sunday too, so let's hope things get back to better than normal. I think it's safe to say that in a couple of weeks we'll get a very good idea of what the clubs "should" have been averaging this week.
Bloody oath, and it sure looked great to see a completely packed stadium, end to end, for a football fixture
Just a little over 8,000 for the Mariners and nearly 9,000 for Brisbane in terms of attendance. A little revival, perhaps?
Speaking of overall attendance figures: it's more than half a million now for only one third of the season distance completed—if everything will keep going the same way, a 1.5 million is an expected figure. Last year's total was just slightly over a million, so you can clearly see an improvement.
That still works out as an improvement with the two extra teams, too. I gave a moment's notice to the fact we'd increased the pool by 25%, but those figures would mean an extra 50% in crowds, so yahoo.
Definitely a good thing, but it would be nice to see a bit more consistency. From the foundation of the league, I've wanted to see a minimum average attendence of 10,000 for each club, and a league average of 15,000. When we get there, and stay there for a few seasons in a row, I'll be a lot happier about the security of the teams in their markets. We almost got there in 07/08, but last season was disappointing to say the least.
Just 7,434 at Suncorp today—no improvement since two last home games. Maybe they just haven't heard the tickets are cheaper now?
