I don't have any numbers, but you REALLY have to take into account the weather for Montreal -- steady, fairly hard rain, some wind, and 48 degrees.

A tip of the umbrella to those who showed up for that one.

Is 4,000 or so considered to be a good turnout for A-League games?

Apparently 5900 were at the game in Saskatoon between Vancouver and Calgary.

But apparently somebobody told me that Saskatoon wouldn't be able to handle an A-League team.

But, apparently, based on one game, they'd be one of the Best Places Ever to Put an A-League Team.

I was waiting for someone to say that. I still say that they'd average at least 3500 a game if they were in the A-League.

K'head, can you tell us anything about Griffiths Stadium? Surface, dimensions, facilities, something-d-o-o economics? Voo-doo economics?

Depends on who's running the show. I am not one who believes that a certain area has an intrinsic average attendance in it.

About five A-League teams a year do 3,500 a game. It's not that common. Maybe they could, I don't know. But a lot would depend on who they had running it.

I've never been there. Apparently has a capacity of 5000 and has a narrow natural grass pitch. Somebody took some photos at the game here (click on newest):

However they do have a full sized pitch at the Gordie Howe bowl which is where the game was originally scheduled. That stadium seats 3984.

Dissapointing for Portland. We should be drawing closer to 7-8k for Thursday night summer matches.

In 2002 we (Portland) averaged 7,078 in the last 7 homes games (out of 14 total). Our season average was 6261.

So I think, on a beautiful Thursday night, we should at least be drawing 7K although it must be mentioned that due to ownership issues the Timbers have ZERO marketing this year.

    2468 to be exact.

Last night in Calgary for the second game of the weekend between Vancouver and Calgary drew approximately 2000. I look forward to seeing the official number.

    Blast/6-15

Looked like our "usual" 1200 or so on a great Father's Day evening-even though we lost in Extra Time(Golden Goal) to the Sounders.3-2 final.

Those Calgary Storm/Seattle pics are amazing. It looks like a pick-up game at some random open field. Compare that to the huge Seahawks Stadium. This is some weird league, man.
