    It's the middle of December
    and all through Lockhart
    Not a player was stirring
    a market torn apart

In 98, Horowitz renovates with nary a care
in hopes that the soccerheads would soon flock there...

    A successful debut, a 22,000 plus event
'we don't need no stinking marketing', and away the PR staff was sent...

    The franchise would soon wallow,
the first 3 campaigns hard to swallow

Made up was his mind, let's leave this whole soccer thing behind

So bring in a TV guy and watch the team die...

But lo and behold, angel Ray would be bold
and start to assemble a kick a-- ensemble...

To Kenny's dismay, the fans were not driven away,
what would become of his plan, to place this team in the sh--can...

As fannies filled seat after seat, and the team play became a treat
Kenny would not in his mission fail, to desert this town, hit the road, bail...

Yet Horowitz would continue to believe, for a reason he would comb...why he had to get up, take his ball and go home

Visit Lockhart today, and to this very day, the scoreboards remain, logos around all in vain

Show more class Kenny, or at least no less
At least take down the signage, clean up your mess....

    Happy holidays to all,

Someone who can no longer support their favorite team.

Look, why don't you go shoot Horowitz, steal his money, start the team up again and hereby solve all your problems?

I mean, geez...WE DIDN'T KILL THEM. Go whine elsewhere, dumbass. I mean, christ, it's been a year.

    Madrid...p-a-r-a-n-o-i-d?

Was the blame directed at anyone other than Horowitz? When you say "WE didn't kill them", just what 'we' are you part of? Do you represent some larger contingent of paranoid individuals? Do you charge a membership fee? Host conventions? My bad, I assume a basic level of reading comprehension from you...

You must be the life of your holiday parties.

Steve his was refering to you bitching to the people who read these boards. Yes you bitched about Horowitz, but we have all heard it before. Quit your complaining.

Though this was the best complaining I have heard.

Anybody see The Natural with Robert Redford?

The way Steve so creatively painted it, it sounds a lot like the plot to that film.

WNBA's Miami Sol & Orlando Miracle
MLS' Miami Fusion & Tampa Bay Mutiny
All four contracted in the same year because
of lack of attendance & above average money loss.
NFL's Miami Dolphins have trouble avoiding blackouts every Sunday w/out help.
NBA's Miami Heat have low attendance even
when they had a decent team. Orlando Magic have admitted to declining attendance even with a good team and mentioned a move to Tampa(what?) in a
few years if things didn't change.
NHL's Florida Panthers & Tampa Bay Lightining always have low attendance, & usually bad squads.
MLB's Florida Marlins & Tampa Bay Devil Rays have
    bad teams & low attendance.

I'm not trying to be mean, just trying to show that for the most part Florida causes headaches for all leagues, not only MLS. Atlanta is the nearest city to me so all my favorites are from there, except the Titans & Predators. I support all my teams, but I will be the first one to admit that Atlanta is a terrible sports town. Support your teams, but don't deny that your city/state sucks when it comes to overall league attendance & performance. Except the NFL teams and there is really no excuse seeing as they're in America's #1 sport. The Fusion was contracted because their wasn't an owner combined with low attendance, & MLS wasn't too happy with the amount of money being lost in comparison with other teams. The only reason others leagues haven't contracted too, is that they are big enough to absorb the losses without worrying too much. They basically use them as ways to get more TV exposure and general awareness of their respective sports.

I will also give credit to the Lightning, Panthers, & Magic are all having very good seasons. The NFL teams are doing well, too.

To be fair, San Jose, Kansas City both have bad attendance, but they are improving & Dallas to some extent suffers, too.

Merry Christmas and I hope one day the league is
strong enough to put another team in Florida.
