I would actually be very interested in seeing this. Not being confrontational or ironic. I’ve just never encountered any of it, although I am constantly assured that it is in fact the case.
That's a problem with the genre. Or maybe with the algorithm, I don't know. If your source of income is based in the attention economy, you're going to be tempted to keep getting attention. That's not necessarily bad, but given how the algorithm is designed, it means that de-contextualized and controversial hot takes are going to generate more clicks, attracting your fans and your detractors. I don't think this is healthy for discourse, but it's the best way to cash in on social media.
Are we gonna talk about the ICE shootings here? What we know so far. 1. Two of the victims were detainees, and the shooter killed himself. He may be the only fatality. 2. Ominously, the FBI is reporting that the bullets had anti-ICE messages written on them. In short, this looks like a deranged, politically incoherent copy cat.
The FBI is not a reliable source. There was a Wall Street Journal article immediately after the Kirk shooting which quoted an FBI source and contained misinformation. The record was corrected later, but people in the FBI are using the media to misinform. (Or maybe the Wall Street Journal is misinforming people and blaming the FBI.) https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/wall-street-journal-quietly-walks-182931692.html
It's also an issue where the evolutionary predisposition to identify dangerous situations and deal with them plays into our bad news bias that will feed into the algorithms that social media sites use to increase user engagement. Throw in the added "benefit" of driving everyone into their own collective silos and everyone who regularly engages in those algorithms is, at least subconsciously, led to believe only the best about their side and only the worst about whoever their perceived opposition is.
I've been looking at the AP for updates for consistency. They first reported 3 victims. They then reported ICE people said none of their people were victims (see previous post). They also said sniper, who killed himself. They then reported ICE people shot at sniper. They then reported ICE people said not clear who shooter was shooting at. They are now reporting (in their live feed) “Early evidence that we’ve seen from rounds that were found near the suspected shooter contain messages that were anti-ICE in nature,” said Joe Rothrock, special agent in charge of the Dallas field office. What I'm seeing is that more information is coming out, but we don't have the full story. I'm not going to pay attention to anything Patel says.
It's almost like the FBI should stop f**king leaking information to the press immediately after an incident.. The problem is, the guy running the FBI is more interested in messaging than he is in actually investigating crimes.
For me it was always super clear that the Bari Weiss / Bill Ackman crowd were never operating in good faith and now we have the proof of it. I am not sure why the FIRE types were so gullible on that front. I think I posted before i saw a good interview with a Reason editor where he was sadly noting that most of the right/libertarians didn't believe in free speech after all - as if that wasn't obvious for years
George Conway's wife. Heh. They had a good set-up for awhile. George fleeces the Libs, and the wife fleeced the Conservatives.
So, question for my fellow antifa terrorists. If you were going to write an anti-ICE message on your bullet casings before you go shoot up an ICE facility, which of the following would you write: a) ******** ICE b) Death to ICE c) Anti-ICE Second question - which of the above messages do you think would be written by an FBI agent who was told by a corrupt FBI director to create "evidence" by writing an anti-ICE message on a bullet casing?
1. Much like the text messages between the shooter and his roommate/lover/whatever two weeks ago, this seems like it almost has to be fake. 2. College aged, and slightly older, kids today are often tremendously unintelligent and barely capable of doing more than the most basic things, which makes both sadly plausible as being real.
I would creatively incorporate the idea of turning them into WATER. Don’t know quite how…but I’ll think of something by the next Antifa meeting.
Yeah, hard to make sense of the texas shooting. To state the obvious, if he was anti-ICE wouldn't be shooting AT the ice agents, instead of everyone EXCEPT them?
My first thought was that he was targeting Latinos and such a shooter would think that an ICE facility would be a good place to target them.
That was my initial thought, and I'm still leaning that way as I don't trust what is being presented by ICE and the feds. Saying that, it appears that Kirk's killer was off target based on what those more knowledgeable have said, and this guy was from a similar distance so it is possible he was also off target. Really does seem like he just wildly shot.
Allison F Uniquely American experience to be detained by ICE in some shitty facility and then shot by a mass shooter
