I'm not commenting on the text messages between the roommate and the shooter because that whole exchange is extremely fishy on tone and the use of legal words instead of common terms, as well as how much information is conveyed. If that's the best the government has to offer, I am not convinced. As are many others, not convinced. But the discord group that they were in appears to be apolitical and many in the group are confused about the motivations of the shooter. . The only hard "facts" we have our from the shooter's messages to the roommate, which don't really lead to any clearing of the confusion at all. Several different theories continue to circulate. EDIT: If anything the text messages just make it look like he's been set up to be a patsy.
True. But in my attempt to continue my quest for cultural sensitivity, I also feel the need to make an attempt to understand WTF the youts are talking about.
Not right now, but this is evidence that will have to be introduced into court. That roommate will likely be called as a witness. And, they can always talk openly in future years once the court case is over.
But if that half is transgender, they might think twice about setting the record straight, given the government's attitude toward trans people, the way the victim advocated violence against LGBT+ people and that they happen to live in a very conservative state. Personally, I would do everything I could to keep as low a profile as possible in that situation - it wouldn't be safe for them to speak out.
Not as you may define it from across the border, but as conservatism applies to and affects the (mis)treatment of oppressed minorities, you have to separate the two with a crowbar. -Heavily invested in Christianity (or in co-opting Christianity for their own purposes, but even reasonable Christianity involves so many "don't's" that the difference is negligible) -Supports the preservation of the racial status quo -Supports the second-class citizenship of women thru prohibition of abortion -Supports the dismantling of public higher education or Christian mythology taught as fact at the K-12 level -Opposes the distribution of birth control and condoms in schools -Opposes the accurate teaching of American History -Opposes medical advice that has been proven to save lives
What if they got called as a witness? Are you suggesting they'd be willing to commit perjury? It's incredibly risky to fake evidence of that nature, even for a Trump sycophant.
Living in a swing state, I constantly saw Trump ads with Harris talking about transgender stuff and prisons. Followed by Kamala being for they/them. I don't think Dems were too woke in this election but things like Gaza didn't help. And it's looking like hippie punching is going to have to be done. There's also a reason progressives haven't done well in office or in elections. Case in point, Abdul El-Sayed. Lost Michigan governor primary by more than 20%. Progressive's wet dream and meanwhile Whitmer is running on, "FIX THE DAMN ROADS!* Now, he's running for Senate and he's dealing with a US House Rep in Haley Stevens and a politician who is popular nationwide in Mallory McMorrow. As for shooter ideology, most don't make sense. One guy tried to shoot Reagan to impress an actress, which should tell one everything.
This take ignores the fact that we’re dealing with literal fascists for whom threats and untruths are an everyday occurrence.
Here's the thing about the text messages: according to the BBC Here's the full record of a series of text messages exchanged with the alleged gunman on the day of the shooting, which the roommate provided to investigators. If they are not submitted in any court filing, then those messages are shit. Saying that, I would imagine that the State is pressing the accused hard to take a plea and be done with it.
Kirk wasn't for the college students. He was for the people not going to college. By him going and owning teenagers that were offering leftist takes he gave uneducated white people things they could repeat to themselves that made them think they were winning arguments in their heads in response to any messaging that came from the left. He helped them reaffirm their basest biases.
People think the Robinson texts are a bit off "Sounds like a Jane Austen novel written by a cop" https://bsky.app/profile/decodingfoxnews.bsky.social/post/3lyzeo5srxs2r
I've seen it here so much that I now use it online. But I used it in speaking as far back as my late teens.
OK. Y'all really need to cut back on the "The text messages are fake!!" and using Rando3937 as some sort of evidence to support it. LOL.
Great article from Ta-Nahesi Coates in Vanity Fair. (unfortunately it is paywalled...) Before he was killed last week, Charlie Kirk left a helpful compendium of words—ones that would greatly aid those who sought to understand his legacy and import. It is somewhat difficult to match these words with the manner in which Kirk is presently being memorialized in mainstream discourse. New York Times columnist Ezra Kleindubbed Kirk “one of the era’s most effective practitioners of persuasion” and a man who “was practicing politics in exactly the right way.” California governor Gavin Newsom hailed Kirk’s “passion and commitment to debate,” advising us to continue Kirk’s work by engaging “with each other, across ideology, through spirited discourse.” Atlantic writer Sally Jenkins saluted Kirk, claiming he “argued with civility” and asserting that his death was “a significant loss for those who believe engagement can help bridge disagreements.” https://www.vanityfair.com/news/sto...3TLJr0cdkHIxmxe2a9FtbKqzZXX3WebpvBd2EXE6EgMk4
Five million raised. At least one GoFundMe was pulled. https://thetab.com/2025/09/17/fundr...irk-and-his-family-despite-his-huge-net-worth
