Nobody would choose a handgun in a gunfight. Now, as far as it being semiautomatic, few people would choose an antique in a gunfight as well.

I wish we had data for how many people near any given incident were, in fact, armed with everyday carry weapons. I've spent a fair amount of time in Utah, but almost none in towns larger than a few thousand people. Nonetheless, my impression was that everyone in Utah was armed.

If it's anything like Arizona, NM, Oklahoma - lots of people own guns - some people even keep one in a vehicle (especially rural), not that many actually daily CCL / OCL

 

If the fetus lobby is going to do a runaround of Roe vs Wade by taking the state out of the equation and shutting down people's constitutionally protected rights by making them liable to thousands of lawsuits, I see literally no reason why the left shouldn't do the exact same goddamn thing.

The courts have decided that the state can't regulate guns in any way at all, ever. OK, fine. But people can sue other people for carrying a gun. It causes me great emotional distress to see some illiterate pervert carrying a gun around. And I'll also sue the gun shops where that person bought a gun. And all the people that aided and abetted the selling of the gun, like the friend who drove the gun buyer to a shop. While we're at it, let's offer a $10,000 reward for filing each and every one of those lawsuits and no penalty whatsoever if they lose. We'll have all the guns off the streets in a few weeks.

Two teens from Dunmore were charged as adults Friday and two others remain charged as juveniles for plotting a “Columbine-style” attack at Dunmore High School for April 20, 2024 — the 25th anniversary of the 1999 massacre at the Colorado high school that left 13 dead, police said.


Police identified the two charged as adults as Alyssa Kucharski, 15, 1228 Clay Ave., and Zavier Lewis, 15, 547 Larch St. Kucharski was “obsessed with Columbine,” the girl’s mother, Jean Kucharski, told police.​

The school is about a mile from my house, and we usually walk by it on our Sunday morning walk. The story also clears up a mystery, as last week a street was blocked off due to a police action: given the address of one of the plotters, that's what the bomb disposal units were doing there!
