OK, i was thinking yesterday...would'nt it be a great idea, to promote soccer in the US, if MLS, USL, USSF, and the US soccer foundation got together during december to donate tons of soccer balls across the country to programs like toys for tots, toy banks etc...so that young kinds growing up would have a little more exposure to the game. i am assuming that if they were given a soccer ball, kids might be interested in playing soccer, or atleast help to spark interest...sometimes all it takes is a little seed to be planted in the hearts and minds of people...any ideas or suggestions? so if you read these boards are are associated in any way with MLS, USSF, US soccer foundation, or any other soccer organization, mention this idea to your bosses early christmas is only 9 months away.... it would be great if like 100,000 soccer balls could be given out, or more than that.... questions or comments? sincerely, iowa007
well I guess I am doing my part... last Christmas for school we had to bring in TOys for TOts and I brought in a soccer ball!
kudos TheMutts, kudos to you for giving a soccer ball for the toy drive...i will encourage other to do the same...and i will do the same this year... sincerely, iowa007
question is HOW DO YOU CONVERT THIS KIDS INTO SPECTATORS ? be that at the MLS stadium or in front of the tube, what MLS realy needs now it better tv ratings, it is more important then attendance giving away soccer balls will encourage kids to play the game in recrational leagues, but that is where it stops
What a minute, I think he's telling us to give away free plasma screen tv's with channel locked on to the Dish Shootout Package.
Oh, no. Then they'll become the next Freddy! We want the kids to play soccer. Then, when they're tired, and want to watch it to see how it's done at the pro level, they can watch and attend MLS. Then, they can work on it the next day, week, etc.
When I was growing up, during the mid to late 70's all I did was play soccer. Sadly that didn't make me a pro (well that and a lack of talent), but it did make me a lifelong fan. I think its a great idea.
novel idea Here's an idea take a kid to a soccer game. Or better yet several games. It could be a nephew or niece or a neighbors child or cousin, or you could become a big brother or sister. You get the idea. Instead of trying to convert the entire nation at one time. If each of us influenced one or two people that would have a longer effect.
