    Hello Everyone,

I'm Chris, I'm 20 and I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Im a keeper and currently playing at the highest level available here and I wish to persue my soccer career further. I was wondering if anyone can help me with information on how to hook up with a club in England or anywhere in europe for that matter. Are there mens clubs that I can play for and work my way up too Div. 1,2, or premiership? How hard is it too find teams?

If anyone with information can help me out, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Ok, well if you play at the highest level in your country, i assume that is the league which is associated with the Canadian FA. If that is the case then im sure your manager can arrange for your name to be touted to English clubs. Ask for a transfer to an English club.

Most footballs are found in England- through luck!
A lot of kids are spotted playing for school/local sides, etc
A bloke at the moment called Lee Trundle plays for Swansea- he wasnt spotted till he was around 24!
There now talk of him joining a good 1st division side or small premiership side! Like Ian Wright did (Crystal Palace and Arsenal)
Its all a matter starting small and being spotted, perhaps contacting a club could help you as you have experience and i persume a good resume?
Can you find all the info you need on the net

Really? thats pretty sweet... I was talkin with one of my friends and he also said to start out at Division 3 then if your selected as a reservist you can be called up to div 1,2 or premier...so i guess the key would be to become a reservest or even make the team? Yah I sport a pretty good resume so i thinkg that should help me out a bit. Thanx again!

im sam im 17, ive moved from portsmouth down in the south coast of england to ontario because of my parents. moving to england my not be such a wise move. you may think that its the way to go because it is the home of soccer. i was lucky i played for a team which was the one of best in the county, which is like me playing for ontario. so that is pretty high, even though i played half the season before i moved and scored 20 odd goals i still did not get spotted for my talent. ive been here 5weeks, joined a club and got into the reps all ready i also play indoor and hopefully i can use my talent to join the major soccer league were i can achieve my dream of being a pro. besides if you start low into a adult team, you would have to be pretty rich to afford to live in england, put it this way i live in a 2700 sq house, cost about $240k well in england the same price would get you a third the size house and even double if you live in a major city.its no wonder people are moving to canada and usa. i dont mean to put your hopes down just giving you a realistic outlook.
    good luck

Hey sam, thanx for the advice, see the thing is your young enough to play for the Provincial team so there are more opportunities for you but im 20 now so i can only play for the national team and you have to be scouted at the provincial level to play for them...Even if you play major league its really hard to get scouted as well. Well if money is not and issue is there any other problems I have to be aware of trying to go over there??? I am just hoping to work my way up through the ranks and eventually make pro...Plus my college coach here has connections in England so hopefully he will get me some good contacts. Thanks for the advice, I would appreciate if we could communicate somemore as i have many more questions.

Chris, why aren't you trying out for the Aviator's or one of the Canadian A-League teams. That may be a good way to get some experience before going to the UK. A fellow Canadian made it to Spurs by playing in the USL.

I would love to try out for the aviators but I think it is only by invitation only. Im going to go to their website and email them to see if this is true. Thanks for advice!

You do not have to start in the 3rd division..If you was lucky enough you can go straight to a team like manchester utd or Liverpool.you could always get in touch with clubs yourself try emailing a few and see what feedback you get.

Retribution03 - Ya but i heard thats very unlikely to happen unless you have been in the national program for awhile which i havent, i onyl made the provincial team. I have tried e-mailing about 30 clubs ans i havent heard back from one single one, but i guess im sure they recieve a million e-mails like that a day and are just unable to respond to them, so I'm having my college coach try and talk to some people that he know so he can get me some contacts but if that doesnt work I guess I will just have to start phoning people and direct answers.
