Disclaimer - these are subjective ratings of the signal strngth based upon the amount of static I hear. I'm sure if the signal strength were to be measured with proper equipment there is a high probability that the conclusions might be different. Other Frisco residents feel free to pipe in with your observations. Inside the building I work at at the corner of Legacy and the Tollway (about 5 miles south of the location of the new stadium), during the daytime the signal is audible but there is quite a bit of static. The static was approximately double what I hear on 910 AM (La Mejor). Driving around last night (after the powerdown), the signal strength was good. Still not as strong as 910 AM, but good. 910 AM signal strength is about half of KRLD 1080 AM or WBAP 820 AM. I'm pretty confident that both English speaking fans and Spanish speaking fans will have no problems hearing the play by play inside the stadium unless the structure that will hold the suites becomes a signal blockage object. On a lighter note, I found out what happened to Kevin McCarthy after all these years.
Report from Kennedale, Mansfield, South Arlington 990 AM During the day, inside house there is heavy static. During the day, in car there is some slight traffic. At night, inside house can't pick it up. At night, in car have trouble and it comes and goes.
The signal will always have more static inside an office building. The signal will be affected by the lights, monitors, etc. I can pick up the station just fine in the car at various locations Ive tried throughout N Dallas.
990 AM webcasts live, so listening from the office or home shouldn't be a problem: http://www.webcasting.com/kmsr/kmsr.htm
Those probably hinder some but large structures have steel girders and they play havok with radio waves. Large sections of concrete don't help either. Just think about your AM signal when going under an overpass.
Driving around Frisco before the powerdown and there was virtually zero static. I got home before 7pm and I don't have a radio with an antenae in the house. I will report back next time I happen to be in the car after 7.
Not for the pre and post game shows 30 minutes before and after the games. Those would be the fun ones to listen to especially if they take callers that all pumped up (either excited or pi$$ed) about the game.
A little technical info about KMSR 990 AM. Currently, it's a Wichita Falls station and its tower is on the northwest edge of Wichita Falls, according to FCC records: http://tiger.census.gov/cgi-bin/map...IES,&off=streets,GRID,shorelin&ht=0.5&wid=0.5 It broadcasts at 10,000 watts during the daytime and 1,000 watts at night, which isn't too bad. By contrast, WBAP and KRLD broadcast at 50,000 watts all the time, and you can pick them up through out most of the USA at night. KLIF is at 5,000 watts all of the time. The Little Ticket's 1310 frequency is at 9,000 watts during the day and 5,000 watts at night. (However, since 1310 kHz is a so much higher frequency than 570 kHz, you get much, much less coverage out of the same power, and KLIF carries a lot further than The Ticket.) HOWEVER, KMSR's broadcasting location and power is set to change. They've got an application with the FCC to move their tower to a location between Farmersville and Greenville: http://tiger.census.gov/cgi-bin/map...IES,&off=streets,GRID,shorelin&ht=0.5&wid=0.5 Their application also has them changing broadcast power from 10,000 watts to 7,000 watts during the daytime, and from 1,000 watts to 920 watts at night. Still, since the tower will be so much closer, it'll be a net improvement to those of us on the east side of the Metroplex.

If you look at the 990 Website at www.990mainstreet.com, they already have the FC Dallas 96 logo. When you click on the logo, it takes you to the press release about the broadcast agreement between FC Dallas 96 and 990 radio.
Oh, I just noticed something else that will be of interest to this audience. From 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays they have "The Beer Show," which is described as "an entertaining discussion of everything beer." I'll definitely have to check out this one .
As the resident radio guy, allow me to show off some maps: This is the daytime map. Clearly the signal is not the greatest. The red area is considered the "prime" signal area for a station. In this area you should be able to hear the station in a building, car or walkman with no problems. The purple is a secondary area and here you should get the station in the car fine, but buildings become an issue. The blue area is one of those places where if you get it, you're getting lucky. So, if you thought the daytime map was bad, check out the nighttime coverage map If you are in Frisco and that northern area, you should have not too many issues getting the signal day or night, but south of that it will be an issue, especially at night. Just to give a comparison, below is the daytime and nighttime maps for Fox Sports 1190, the last home for the soccer radio show
Actually I would not be good at hosting a show about beer. I was branded Buzz at the age of 2, it has nothing to do with drinking.
Not sure how to read these maps, but a little research tells me that the radio tower is in Farmersville and not Wichita Falls. Farmersville is east of McKinney.
