I remember two or three balls that were played cleanly through for him and he had a step on the defender. Beasley still couldn't control the ball well enough to squeeze off a shot, allowed the defender to catch up when Beasley had to chase down the ball from his own touch, and gave up the advantage. He missed two open nets. One was called offsides so if he shot had been on frame it would not have counted, but he still missed the net.

WOW WOW, Easy there!! let's see what you'd call "inferior opposition" first. the teams you mentioned played, in that order: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Austria, Cyprus, Andorra, Lithuania and Paraguay, of those I'd say only Cyprus and Andorra are closer to Cuba in quality, except that Cuba has much less football tradition than those two. Any of the other teams you mentioned would give the US a run for their money. and BTW, Paraguay is leading S America qualifying, "inferior opposition"? think again.

As for the match, as many fans mentioned, is worrisome that the NT seems to play "down" to the opposition level. Hopefully in the Hex they'll hit the gas hard and play up to what they are capable of perform.

I think he meant "inferior" vis-a-vis their opponent, not compared to Cuba.

He did, but the gap between Paraguay-Argentina, Austria-France, Bosnia-Spain is nowhere near the chasm that is between USA-Cuba.

(Note: England and Italy are taking beatings in their press as well right now.)

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but there's a comprehensive set of stats up on USSoccer.com. It includes passing percentage, shots, headers, etc... Pretty cool that they're putting this stuff up now.

That's sweet! The ability to click and watch each shot individually is very cool.
