If it is only 30 million dollars then it doesn't include the stadium really, now does it? AEG and RBNY had an agreement, but RBNY thought wisely and bought them out of that too right?

Don't think Red Bull have officially bought the stadium yet either. I believe this is also what is holding up construction a bit.

According to Ives, they quietly bought out AEG's share of the stadium a few weeks ago but didn't make an announcement about it.

How much did AEG profit on the sale of the Fire? Do we have a guess (including or excluding Toyota Park)?

It would have been funny if the first thing they did was fire Guppy and bring back Wilt.

Not just how much did AEG make off of it, but also if they could UPDATE MLS FANS as to WHEN THE FUNK THEY ARE GOING TO START BUILDING?!?! I know all about the oil tanks they've found in the ground, but man, couldn't they update us with how much longer they see this going and getting drawn out?

Bridgeview owns the stadium so AEG couldn't sell what it doesn't own. From the Fire's website "Owned by the Village of Bridgeview and operated by AEG" http://chicago.fire.mlsnet.com/t100/stadium/

as per the other thread, the managing rights to TP have been bought from AEG by the holding company. So the new owners of the team are the new operators of the stadium, just not owners of both.

I know I would have known this if I would have thought about it, but it was still shocking to see that AEG now only owns two teams. It wasn't long ago when they owned over half the league. Hunt only owns two as well. I can't wait until AEG sells the Dynamo and Hunt sells the Crew and we're down to one team per owner, the way Nature intended it to be.

My understanding is that the only divestment the Hunts are planning is that if it comes down to one team-one owner then one team will be owned by one brother and the other by the other brother. This was what Clark Hunt said in an interview last year anyway. He said something about drawing straws to see who got which team.

When you take into account running the team since 1998 and losing money each year, they probably came out about even.

That's great to hear. One of the main points of an SSS is controlling your own venue. Buying the club without gaining managing rights would have destroyed this purpose.

If that's the case, then there's only one team left to be sold until we're there.

as recently as two years ago, it just seemed unfathomable that the league would be at this point now.

I saw a quick calculation somewhere that indicated that they actually have got their money back or very close to anyway...and they still got two teams!
