diosa de m*erda CCSC Striker you my friend... I second the nomination for Fan of the Match! There's no way for you to get in just a weeee bit later? I'd familiarize yourself with the songs... get into the stadium early (bring a flag), sit with SA or whoever... bring a ball... take photos proving what a friggin bad ass you are... haha- maybe you can convince a friend to go with you??
Yes I am trying to possibly get a couple of my friends to go with me. But a lot of them don't want to miss high school...I don't care though it's my senior year.
thanks for the Amtrak link and this one. Amtrak schedule wont work out, but now i have the Greyhound as my last option, could be fun to get like 8 of us, who knows get some chants going?
We'll you get in downtown about a two blocks south of the state capitol. You could probably check that out as soon as you get in and then to save a few dollars I'd suggest taking the COTA bus #2 (Columbus bus system) up High Street to Ohio State. It is usually running by 7am. People will be tailgating over near the stadium and off of Lane Avenue (about a half mile west of High Street) from 8:00am. You should be able to get a bus over to the State Fairgrounds/CCS from campus later in the day.
That right there is a die-hard fan! We need a few more thousand of you and we'd have all the fan base we need.
How is the public transportation in Columbus? Is it good or would it be better to drive from Kansas City or rent a car from the airport?
Public transport if pretty good. I have taken the city bus from the airport to High Street, at the Ohio State Campus, It took 1 1/2 hours but it was fine. German Vilage and the Food Court are well worth seeing. The Food Court is about 2 miles from the stadium and has an amazing array of shops and ethnic counters selling meals. The Ohio State Campus is very nice and should be rocking as it is a football weekend.
Me and two friends are making this trip to Columbus from New York. Anybody know when the tickets go on sale? I've heard they're gonna go fast... so I want to get them as soon as they go on sale. Thanks!
Well I'll be driving down from Cleveland on gameday...so going throughout the ngiht might not be the best plan for me
my question is why is this being held at Crew Stadium.. it only seats 22500? This is our most important qualifier and a big rivalry, you'd think they would have it somewhere that would set more?
backtracking to the 2004 MLS season I found 3 occassions that more than 22500 were seated: Saturday, August 21st D.C. United at Columbus 23,849 Saturday, September 25th D.C. United at Columbus 23,357 Saturday, October 2nd Chicago at Columbus 23,250 I wonder how many they will be seating 9/3
I'm all for holding this match at a stadium other than CCS (only because of its size), but you may very well be proven to be wrong when you say "This is our most important qualifier". If we continue to get results, especially away this Wednesday versus Panama and home in August versus T&T in Hartford, the Mexico match may very well mean nothing more than much-coveted bragging rights. Of course, I'd not only LOVE to beat Meh-he-co 2-nil and be able to chant that phrase over and over in a 68K-plus Gillette Stadium or another stadium capable of seating many more than 22.5K... At this point, of course, we do not know the impact of this match... but that's for another thread. Point is, this match may be somewhat meaningless.
I would rather have it be in a small soldout stadium full of chanting/singing US supporters than a big stadium with 15-20% Chanting US Supporters, 15-20% Chanting Mexico Supporters, and the rest just the fans that sit and watch. For example, the USA v. England game.
