US Soccer likes "mic'ing" SA during the games... But the "You Suck A$$hole" when the opposing goalkeeper takes a goal-kick causes them to have to turn off those field microphones -- it's a problem for them, as they cannot air it on television, and they are trying to eliminate that specific "chant" from the games.
excellent, wish I could get in town Friday night instead of Saturday. Oh well, I'll be there to celebrate the victory.
yes, I know, it's not the first time i have seen this note of course. Just had to post it here again, to reiterate the lameness of it
Public transportation questions (downtown area to CCS): COTA #4 runs from downtown High Street area up 4th Street. The stop for CCS is 4th Street and E. 17th Avenue, which is a short walk to CCS from there (Walk East on 17th Avenue under the railroad bridge and up the short hill to the grounds/parking lot). It runs every 35 minutes on Saturday and costs $1.25. Full info: http://www.cota.com/routes/Local_Route_Maps/004 INDIANOLA AVE.pdf?pid=,1,45
anyone considering going, I would definitely suggest it, LOTS of fun lines can be a little long, but where else can you ride that many quality rollercoasters? I loved it!
I dunno, ask the Fire supporters: they seem to be the only ones who regulary ammend the chant with "A$$hole."
not gonna happen, also.. lets not have a YSA discussion in this thread.... there are plenty of other YSA threads out there.
I think for this game we should switch the chant to reflect a more accurate depcition. Anytime the mexican keeper touches the ball, chant "DIRTY SANCHEZ!" to reflect his last name!
I just want to say that people who feel they need to use vulgar language in cheers are lame and uncreative. It alienates a portion of the audience and there's no need for it. (I say that as someone who, regrettably, participated in some R-rated cheers as an undergraduate at Northeastern hockey games.)
They are giving us a break on drinks. Happy Hour all night basically (dollar off all imports, plus some cheap domestic beer) on Friday. We're working on extending that to Saturday, will let you know. They just don't want us to be TOO public about the drink specials yet, because they want it to be reserved for Sam's Army/US Supporters. In other words, they don't want all of Columbus, non-US Supporters to get the specials as well.
And following up from my last post, some info I neglected to pass along, but will make sure gets up there to the site... There is no age minimum for the bar. Under 18s and Under 21s can get in, even late, w/o an over 21.
[soapbox for a moment] But let us remember something VERY important. This bar has gone out of their way to help and accomodate us for these two nights, and especially Friday night -- with drink specials, a private room, any age allowed in for the night, etc -- I DON'T wanna hear about folks over 21 buying drinks for people not the legal age just because they are allowed in the bar to have fun. I would hate for the bars willingness to work with us in order to allow everyone in, end up biting them in the ass if they were to lose their liquor license due to some undercover cop being in the bar that night. [/off I go]
good point, you don't have to worry about me, i'm driving I was just looking for a place to hang out instead of going right back to the B&B
It's the truth. If you need to use vulgarity in your chants, you are lame and uncreative. The best stuff I've ever heard has been, at worst, PG-rated. Edit: Er, I'm referring mainly to language -- gratuitous a**hole and worse.
There's no "need" to use vulgarity for vulgarity's sake but sometimes it just fits. Take the "Can you hear the ____ sing?" chant, what are we supposed to say, "I can't hear a freaking thing"?? Sounds kinda gay if you ask me. I'm still pissed at you guys for screwing the pooch in the Beanpot final last year BTW....
