Here are the offficial lineups for today's game: Milan Dida; Simic, Nesta, Maldini, Kaladze; Ambrosini, Pirlo, Serginho; Rui Costa; Inzaghi, Tomasson. On the bench: Abbiati, Gattuso, Seedorf, Laursen, Borriello, Ba, Brocchi. It appears Carlo is resting some players for the huge match mid week. Totally off topic, but: are there even tickets available for tonight's Revs game? Between the Milan match, BC-Miami game and then hopefully finding Quakes-Galaxy somewhere, I have a pretty full sports plate. Of course, I could always add in a trip down south for some live action (Foxboro, not Foxwoods ) As for Milan, I think this will be the first test as to how the whole squad rotation will go. Good to see the back 4 are in tact - need to get them as much time together as possible. Glad to see Ambro get some time as well
FT Milan 3-0 Perugia Maldini 39' Pippo 50' Seedorf 65' Serginho missed PK 90' Is this the start of a dream season for Milan? I hope so!!
Good result for Milan and a ok preformance. The sloppy field in the second half both hindered and hurt Milan. While it gifted Pippo his goal, Milan would have played much better on a good pitch (read: not waterlogged). But, that was mother natures fault, not the ground staff. I love Pirlo, this kid is the savior. He directs the team so well, its beautiful. JDT had a uneventful game, wasn't aggressive enough. Rui Costa tried to be too fancy at times, but Ambro made up for it by mowing down all comers like usual. Ambrosini is the best Italian midfielder by far, I hope he plays instead of Gattuso on tuesday. Rivaldo was rested. Guess who got on at the end? Ibrahim Ba! Hahaha, he played at right back. Milan's defence looks tight with Nesta and Maldini in the center and two stay-at-home fullbacks in Simic and Kaladze.
I also think Carlo should play Ambrosini on Tuesday instead Gattuso but I don't think he will. For some reason Carlo prefers Gattuso to Ambrosini. Maybe he is being cautious bringing Ambrosini back into the Milan fold. We know how injury prone he is and maybe it's better for him to play less now so he can play more later in the season. As for the San Siro, it's only going to get worse as the season goes on. With 3 games being played every 7 days on the field because of both Inter and Milan playing in europe it will become the slop it usually becomes later in the season.
