After a bright start by Rangers, Bristol City goes ahead 1-0 as Royce is chipped after Williams misplayed a ball at the back in around the 13th minute. Come on, you R's!
The Rangers started the same lineup as on Tuesday: Royce; Carlisle, Palmer, Shittu; Forbes, Rose, Langley, Williams, Connolly; Oli and Gallen.
Rangers equalize through a Karl Connolly volley into the top corner from a Rose header after a long Palmer free kick in around the 23rd minute. 1-1! In their fifth home league game of the year, it's the first goal given up by Bristol City (entering the game, they had 10 for, 0 against at home in the league).
Halftime at Ashton Gate and it's 1-1. Bristol City has had a few more serious chances than Rangers, but the R's have had their dangerous moments as well. Palmer picked up a late yellow card on what the commentator thought was an accidental tangle. Bristol City has also picked up one yellow card (Murray, for dissent) and has used, I believe, two substitutions already (one early for an ankle injury).
FYI, the LDV Vans Trophy first round draw was held this morning and the Rangers, coincidentally, drew Bristol City. The good news is they drew them at Loftus Road. The game will take place the week starting 10/21, so that'll follow the R's league match at Cheltenham Town on 10/19.
Marc Bircham in for Dennis Oli to start the second half. Connolly to push up to partner Gallen with Bircham in the center of midfield with Rose and Langley. Just a couple of minutes into the second half -- great run by Williams down the left flank; he crosses it into Karl Connolly who finishes nicely for a Rangers goal!!! 2-1 Rangers!
3-1 Rangers! From a free kick by Forbes, Carlisle heads it on to Gallen who finishes for a 3-1 lead!!! 51 minutes gone.
Tommy Williams in the book in the 67th minute. R's playing solid football, largely defending, but still attacking when the opportunity presents itself. Shittu regularly clearing crosses out by winning headers.
Danny Murphy in for Richard Langley in the 79th minute. Rangers spending more time down Bristol City's end in the last few minutes.
Karl Connolly gets a yellow in the 87th minute for a "rugby tackle." Seconds later, Connolly comes out, Andy Thomson on.
A final from Ashton Gate: Bristol City 1, Queens Park Rangers 3. R's have 20 points from 10 games. Come on, you R's!
And, yes, it's only 10 games in, but with Peterborough coming back from two goals down to get a draw at Wigan, here's where we stand this afternoon: 1. QPR, 10 played, 20 points, +11 GD 2. Wigan Athletic, 10, 20, +10 --- 3. Oldham Athletic, 10, 20, +9 4. Cardiff City, 9, 20, +7 5. Crewe Alexandra, 10, 19, +8 6. Blackpool, 10, 18, +6 --- 7. Brentford, 10, 18, +3
